Xian Xinghai was born in 1905, when China was still a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, he began to rely on his mother since he was a child, and after he understood things, he witnessed the bullying and oppression of Chinese by Western powers.

At the age of 14, Xian Xinghai was admitted to lingnan university affiliated high school because he loved music, and with the help of the famous educator Mr. Zhong Rongguang, he studied for free in the overseas Chinese class, and in the subsequent study time, he has been working and studying half time.

At the age of 21, Xian Xinghai laid a solid theoretical foundation at Peking University and the Shanghai National Conservatory of Music. After 3 years, he was not satisfied with only studying in China, so he overcame various difficulties and embarked on the road to work-study in France.

Coming to the romantic capital of Paris, he always has some mismatch with the city, in order to earn living expenses, Xian Xinghai has played violins for guests in bars, served dishes to people in restaurants, and even cleaned the toilet... But as soon as he finished his work, he immediately hid in the small corner of the kitchen to practice the violin.

In 1935, at the age of 30, Xian Xinghai graduated, and the Paris Conservatory admired his musical achievements and once again threw an olive branch at him, inviting him to stay in school and teach. However, he refused.

Xian Xinghai could not wait to return to his motherland, and he once wrote to his mother that when he finished his studies, he would return to serve the country. However, when he finally stepped onto the hot land of his hometown, he found that the motherland he had been thinking about was so poor and backward, the people were in deep trouble, and the japanese army's aggressive hooves were trampling on our soil.

In 1937, the Lugou Bridge Incident broke out, the War of Resistance Against Japan began in an all-round way, Xian Xinghai was bent on resisting Japan, and once again bid farewell to his mother and came to Wuhan, the forefront of anti-Japanese propaganda, to work under the direct guidance of Zhou Enlai.

At the end of 1938, he arrived in Yan'an and taught at the Lu Xun Conservatory of Music, where he composed nearly a hundred revolutionary songs in one of his own small earthen kilns. One day in March 1939, Guang Weiran excitedly called out to like-minded friends to recite the freshly baked "Yellow River Chorus" for everyone, and Xian Xinghai listened to him more and more excitedly, and after the recitation, he picked up the draft and said: "I am sure to compose him well!" ”

Since then, Xian Xinghai's life has been indistinguishable from night, and sugar and smoke have become his inspiration initiators. After 6 days and 6 nights, a great work of poetry and music was born, and everyone who heard it was impressed. Since then, "Yellow River Chorus" has become a famous anti-Japanese propaganda song, Zhou Enlai praised, xian Xinghai roared for the War of Resistance!

In 1940, Xian Xinghai was entrusted with the important task of visiting the Soviet Union to score the film "Yan'an and the Eighth Route Army", but was prevented from returning to China due to the outbreak of the Soviet-German War. He died in Moscow on October 30, 1945, at the age of 40. After hearing the news, Chairman Mao personally wrote an elegy: "Condolences to Comrade Xian Xinghai, the people's musician!" 38 years later, Xian Xinghai's ashes were transported back to China from Moscow and buried in the Babaoshan Cemetery in Beijing.
