2021 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and Shenzhen is also in the golden development period of "dual districts" driven and "double district" superimposed, ushering in a major historical opportunity for the "double reform" demonstration and the construction of a pioneering demonstration city of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics. To this end, from November 1 to 30, this year's Reading Month will create a new national reading event with higher pursuit, updated quality and stronger voice.
Urban linkage, the first district-level venue
Wu Yun, secretary general of the Shenzhen Reading Month Organizing Committee and deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, introduced that as the earliest and largest mass reading festival in China, Shenzhen Reading Month has always been an important cultural business card of Shenzhen. Adhering to and continuing the rich concepts, spirits and practices accumulated by previous reading months, this year's reading month condenses the three major functional positioning of "cultural alarm clock", "city collection" and "reading festival", and builds three major activity content sections based on this.
It is understood that this year's Shenzhen Reading Month will strengthen the linkage of urban areas, set up district-level sub-venues for the first time, and launch an activity matrix covering all districts and going deep into the grassroots. The 3rd Shenzhen Book Fair will also be held simultaneously during the Reading Month.

Zhang Hairong said that during the Reading Month, 98 291 activities will be held in futian district streets, communities, enterprises and other places, and 50 special reading activities for teenagers represented by the Shenzhen Campus Literature Festival will also enrich the activities of the district-level venue.
Cities work together to spread the culture of the Bay Area
As one of the core engines of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen's current Reading Month has shown a high degree of openness and cooperation.
"This year's Reading Month highlights the characteristics of global, panoramic, national and all-media activities." Wu Yun explained that the whole region is to strengthen the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the linkage between china and abroad, so that the atmosphere of books can radiate throughout the country and even the world.
Tang Hanlong, director of the Office of the Organizing Committee of Shenzhen Reading Month, secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of Shenzhen Publishing Group, introduced that Shenzhen Reading Month will link up with the Hong Kong Publishers Association, the Macao Publishing Federation, the Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao Bookstores and the media, integrate the cultural resources of the Greater Bay Area, and carry out reading activities such as book markets, bookstore salons and literature reading together.
In addition to promoting cultural integration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen Reading Month will also promote exchanges between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and cities in the Yangtze River Delta.
On the basis of the previous intercity reading and cultural exchanges, this year's Reading Month will upgrade the way of intercity activities, plan a series of activities of "When the Capital of Design Meets the City of Literature", invite designers from Shenzhen (The Capital of Design) to carry out dialogues with literary artists in Nanjing (The City of Literature), and set up exhibitions for the two cities to see each other. At the same time, this year's Reading Month will also strengthen the brand image promotion, invite famous designers to design the main visual system of the Reading Month, so that the functional positioning and quality connotation of the Reading Month will be strengthened in the visual image.
Focus on the theme and innovate the reading posture
With the annual theme of "Opening a New Horizon", this year's Reading Month looks at the current environment, responds to readers' hot spots, and opens up future horizons.
It is understood that the more than 1,400 activities held during the reading month will focus on the future, focusing on scientific science, ecological museums, geographical discovery, interstellar exploration, future creation, science fiction imagination and other fields. Specifically, in response to readers' concerns, this year's Reading Month will focus on global issues and communication hotspots in the all-media era, echoing the new direction of citizens' desire for reading knowledge; in focusing on urban development, showing the new attitude of reading for the city at the new node of Shenzhen; and expanding the international vision, the Reading Month will echo the new global ecology and new opportunities in the global ecology and new countries under the new development pattern of digitalization, all-media, post-epidemic era and new development pattern.
It is worth mentioning that in addition to the three major theme sections, this year's Reading Month will also launch an annual dedication, that is, the annual special planning of "Tribute to the Centenary of the Founding of the Party", the organization of the "Brand New Realm" classic poetry recitation meeting, the "Development of the Overall Situation" and "The Literary Classics Reflect the Centennial" Literary Party Class, through the presentation of classic poems and the heavy topic interpretation of experts, to show the party's century-old glorious course to public readers.
Big coffee gathered, specially set up "Science Fiction Literature Reading Week"

Tang Hanlong said.

According to statistics, in 2020, the number of science fiction books published Chinese mainland reached 657, an increase of 12.7% over 2019. Chen Jinhua believes that there are more and more readers of science fiction literature, and science fiction literature and the corresponding IP movies and TV series have formed a mutually reinforcing role. Wu Yan, a shenzhen science fiction writer and professor at southern University of Science and Technology, won the National Excellent Children's Literature Award with "China Orbit", which also set off a "science fiction fever" in Shenzhen.
"Science fiction literature is particularly in line with Shenzhen's urban temperament, because science fiction literature pays attention to both scientific rationality and imagination, which is highly consistent with Shenzhen's development of high-tech and innovative creative industries." Chen Jinhua said.
