China's neurosurgery from scratch, from small to large, from weak to strong, every step forward, contains the hard work of Academician Wang Zhongzhong.

In the book "The Biography of Wang Zhongzhong" written by Wang Zhe, it is written that when Wang Zhongzhong first became a doctor, he did not realize that his work and life were related to the cause of neurosurgery in China, but then the situation was different, he joined the Communist Party, the party entrusted him with a heavy responsibility, and put the burden of building a new Chinese neurosurgery on his shoulders, so that he could have such outstanding and brilliant achievements later.

"The greatest ideal of my life is to be able to make some contributions to the country and the nation." Wang Zhongzhong once expressed his feelings in this way.

He thinks and does.

In the 1950s, Wang Zhongzhong began to engage in neurosurgery, under the guidance of Professor Zhao Yicheng, a pioneer in neurosurgery in China, he did not fulfill his mission, greatly developed and developed the cause of neurosurgery in China, and became the main pioneer of China's neurosurgery.

Throughout his life, Wang Zhongzhong has been exploring the mysteries of the human brain. He published China's first "Cerebral Angiography" monograph, promoted cerebral angiography as the main method of neurosurgical diagnosis, so that the risk of neurosurgical diagnosis in China from 2% to 3% to 0.2% to 0.3%, shortened the gap between China and developed countries for nearly 30 years; took the lead in the domestic use of microscopy technology, so that neurosurgical surgery has taken a qualitative leap, intracranial aneurysm mortality rate from 10% to 2%, cerebrovascular malformation mortality rate from 15% to 1%; overcome the neurosurgical forbidden area, It has solved a series of worldwide medical problems such as brainstem tumors, intraspinal tumors, thalamus tumors, and midline tumors at the base of the skull, and brought the level of neurosurgery in China into the world's advanced ranks.

At the age of 84, Wang Zhongzhong won the "2008 National Supreme Science and Technology Award". At the award ceremony, he spoke on behalf of all the award-winning scientific and technological workers: "This fully reflects the great importance attached by the party and the state to the cause of science and technology and the care for scientific and technological personnel, and the honor belongs to all scientific and technological personnel." ”

In his speech, Wang Zhongzhong thanked the party, thanked his team, thanked his family, thanked the patients, but did not mention his own achievements. He mentioned the goal of the future: "To run our hospitals and colleges well and build them into world-class scientific bases can train more young people to serve patients." ”

Based on the country, look at the world. Wang Zhongzhong has always stood at the forefront of the development of neurosurgery, broken through one medical forbidden area after another, created one world first after another, and won honors for the motherland many times. He has been invited to conduct in-depth academic exchanges with 36 countries, was a member of the WHO Neurosurgery Expert Advisory Group, and was awarded the World Neurosurgery "Highest Honor Award" by the World Federation of Neurosurgery...

On June 1, 2012, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and the Beijing Astronomical Observatory named an asteroid "Wang Zhongxing".

Today, in the vast sky, "Wang Zhongxing" is still shining, and the generations of neurosurgeons he has trained are still serving patients all over the world.
