On October 28, 1868, the great inventor Thomas A. Edison was granted his first patent for his invention— a device that automatically recorded the number of votes cast, and the "vote counter" he thought would speed up congressional work from popularity, backfired. Some parliamentarians told him that sometimes the slow vote was out of political necessity, and from then on Edison never created the inventions that people had to invent. He devoted his life to inventions useful to human inventions, starting with this patent, the United States has 1093 patents under his name, and other countries have accumulated more than 1500 patents.
