"If the bodhisattvas take the ultimate stillness, and from the power of stillness, they will never cease their troubles, and if they attain ultimate fulfillment, they will enter nirvana, and this bodhisattva will be on the list of practitioners of the Mahatma." The Buddha now tells us the first path, "Only to take the ultimate stillness", only to seek stillness, and by the power of stillness can also "never stop the defilements" and attain the arhat fruit. Some people like to build a hut on the mountain to specialize in cultivation, sit for a long time, and do not sit down, but the "Enlightenment Sutra" here says: "If you do not rise from the seat, you will enter Nirvana", called "single cultivation of luxury Mota", so that you can also achieve something.

"If the bodhisattvas first take the meditation, with the meditation of the mind, and illuminate the illusionists, it is convenient to be in the middle, and the bodhisattvas are acting, and this bodhisattva is called first practicing samadhi and then practicing samadhi." This is another kind of practice.

"If the bodhisattvas take first to be still," how can they take first? How can I attain stillness? Everyone learns to meditate, who really achieves stillness? I'm afraid not, but it's true that the more you sit, the more noisy you get. Alas! The feet hurt, the head swelled, and the delusions came again. Why can't I reach stillness? Because there is no method, there is no concentration in the method of cultivation, there is no oneness, there is no oneness. For example, the same is true of the recitation of the Buddha, the mind is chanted on the Buddha number, Amitabha, the recitation of the Amitabha is fixed, two hours later to read the mi word, there is no distraction in the middle, there is no physical feeling, then it is considered to be the singleness of chanting the Buddha.

Tell you that these are the methods, depending on whether your wisdom is enough. If you study tantra, this is to solemnly pass on the Dharma and make offerings. One up! Ah -- get half an hour, and then ——, and then half an hour, so lively for half a day, after the transmission of the Fa, the five bodies prostrate! So you'll cherish it, oh! The guru passed on Dafa. People just like to deceive themselves, deceive others, and be deceived. I am so clear now that I tell you that if you wait and look at it, you would be wrong. I don't like to engage in this set, I think the Tao is the justice of the world, all said, and then it depends on your wisdom. Wisdom is not enough, listen to everything, what is the use?

Just now I talked about single-mindedness, single-mindedness to the extreme, and the distractions and delusions have been beaten down, and the thought of reciting the Buddha has been stopped, or a certain concept has been stopped, so that we can achieve stillness. The Sutra of Enlightenment seems easy to understand, and that's what buddhism is. I ask you, Zhi Jing, did you do it? In fact, Lao Tzu in China also said that zhi jing, "to the virtual pole, to keep the quiet." "Husbands and things are numerous, and each returns to its roots; returning to the roots is quiet, which means restoring life." The root of life is stillness, and only when it is quiet to the extreme can we grasp the true meaning of life and restore the instinct of life.

Whether it is chanting the Buddha or practicing the meditation, we must first concentrate on it before we can cultivate to the point of meditation, and stillness is not counted, it is necessary to achieve "supreme stillness", but how many of us really cultivate to meditation? If you really cultivate to be still, you will forget about your body, and you can indeed get rid of your illness, because when you are quiet to the extreme, your illness is empty, your suffering is empty, and your feeling of suffering is gone. Many people sit up, it hurts here, it hurts there, it's all in suffering, where is it quiet? If it is really quiet, the sickness and suffering will also be quiet, the troubles will be quiet, and the delusions will be quiet.

Mr. Nan Huaijin: It is very important to start with "first take and then quiet"

The Ming Dynasty master Shan practiced in Wutai Mountain, lived by the stream, the stream rushed, such as ten thousand horses galloping, noisy, can not go on, he one breath, one breath is what I said, not very good, meaning that it is bored to death, so a quarrel can not be fixed, this is called cultivation ah? Just meditate on the bridge, one day, suddenly, everything is silent, there is no sound, this is also into the concentration, into what concentration? Static concentration.

Now that the Sutra of Enlightenment mentions Zhi Jing, was this realm of Master Shan considered To be Jing at that time? Doesn't count. So, what is the ultimate stillness? This is to be found in the Lengyan Sutra, which contains the sound of Guanyin Bodhisattva entering the Dharma, "In the first place, in the exile, into the silence, the movement and stillness, and the natural birth." ”

Listen to all the sounds, listen to the sound of your own Buddha, listen to the sound of the car, listen to your own breathing, listen! listen! Hearing "into the exile house", into the flow of Dharma, "the place of death", the sound heard cannot be heard, "the sound is silence", the sound is extinguished, pure to the extreme, and then, moving phase, the sound of everything; still phase, there is no sound; "the two phases of movement and stillness, the natural and not born", clear and unhindered, not a single thought. I am only making a simple explanation, and if I talk about it in detail, it is not only that.

In this way, we are close to the ultimate silence of the Enlightenment Sutra. If you really reach the ultimate silence, it is not only that. The "Lengyan Sutra" so-called: "The pure aurora reaches, and the silence contains the void, but it comes to look at the world as if it were a dream." Therefore, the Sutra of Enlightenment says here, "If the bodhisattvas first take the meditation, with the meditation of the mind, and illuminate the illusionists, it is convenient to be in the middle, and the bodhisattva line is initiated," and the light of pranayama wisdom appears, and naturally realizes that everything is a dream, and it is convenient for the bodhisattva to act here. The bodhisattva who takes this route is called "first practicing samadhi", first practicing stopping, "then practicing samadhi", and then practicing the achievement of illusion.

"If the bodhisattvas attain the status of tranquility with stillness and wisdom, they will cease their troubles and will be born and die forever, and this bodhisattva will be called first to practice Samadhi and then to meditate." This is another way of practicing, from stillness to wisdom.

Mr. Nan Huaijin: It is very important to start with "first take and then quiet"

When it comes to meditation, most people think of meditation, which is just an exercise in meditation, and meditation itself is not necessarily stillness. True stillness must forget the body, forget the feelings, the mind does not move. In fact, it is not right to say that the mind is not moving, it should be said that the mind has calmed down. The mind calms down, forgets the body, forgets the feelings, it is not ignorance. I don't know anything, that's groggy, big drowsiness! Usually meditating on the so-called qi chakra activation, feeling comfortable and uncomfortable, these are physiological reactions, with this reaction, it is no longer quiet, that is, slowly walking on the road to silence.

After being quiet, the feeling of the body is gone, what is the quietness? We can only reluctantly use the analogy of "ten thousand miles of clear sky", without a little cloud, without a trace of delusion, this is the realm of silence. The words are very simple, some people in a lifetime, or even for several years, whether they can cultivate is still a problem. But not necessarily, there are also people who arrive at once, this is not cultivated in this lifetime, it is accumulated in the past few lifetimes.

Calm down like this, did you get home? No. There is a sentence below: "Realization of tranquility", how to explain this? After studying the wisdom, you will understand that the realization of the stillness is the self-evidence points that the wisdom talks about, or the amount of self-evidence, what is the "self-proof points"? We just took the analogy of "ten thousand miles of clear sky", thousands of miles of clear sky, there are no clouds at all, where does this clear sky come from? It is not the amount of one's own mind that has been concocted, the clear sky is a realm, and it is necessary to go further, to realize what it is to be able to conjure up the realm of the ten thousand miles of clear sky, at this time, to realize, to be able to stop the troubles, the so-called sudden interruption of troubles, is to jump out of life and death. Bodhisattvas who take this path of practice are called "first practicing samadhi," practicing first, "practicing zen after that." Since the Tang and Song dynasties, Zen Buddhism has mostly taken this route.

"Good man, if all sentient beings cultivate Samadhi, they first take it to silence, and if they do not think about it, they will realize it in silence, and if they are the first stillness, from one body to one world, so be it."

The Buddha mercifully commanded again and again. What to fix? "Cultivating The Dharma" is the practice of stopping. Our thoughts and thoughts are like flowing water, and to practice mahāna is to stop it at one point, to tie one thing to the heart, and the first step in all practice is to seek a stop first, no matter which one it is, even The Taoists or the Confucians, it is the same. Thoughts, thoughts, and emotions cannot be settled, and they cannot be stopped, and when you say how good the work is, you are either deceiving yourself or deceiving others.

So the Buddha said, "First take meditation," we learn to meditate, meditation is to practice how to meditate, and meditation cannot be said to be stopped. You meditate and sit there quietly, but the thoughts in your hearts go up and down, and they don't stop. You say chanting Buddha, Amitabha, Amitabha Buddha, is there any stopping? No. How do I get to the quiet first? "Don't miss it". Not thinking about it is not to suppress the thought, not to think, so it must be wrong.

Mr. Nan Huaijin: It is very important to start with "first take and then quiet"

So, how can you not miss it? Is there any way to stop thinking about it? I am sorry! There is no way. If there is still a way, it is no longer the most quiet, it is still in trouble. How do I get to Jing first? - I can't think of it. How can I not miss it? - Take it first. It is like this, can not be said, just like the poem of Xue dou Zen master: "Taihu Lake is thirty-six thousand acres, and the moon is in the heart of the wave to whom?" ”

"Quiet pole is enlightened", quiet to the extreme, wisdom opened, enlightenment. The Lengyan Sutra says: "Pure aurora access", this sentence is not a metaphor, it is actual work, this light is not the light of phases, but the light of self-nature, the light of wisdom.

"If it is the first meditation", sorry, to reach this realm, or the first silence, and then further, "from the one body to the world, so is it", from the purity of one's own body and mind, and then expanded to the whole universe is in pure enlightenment, all in your mind, your mind and the whole universe are integrated, then from the "pure aurora access" to "silence contains emptiness".

"Good man, if he who feels that he is all over one world, and there are all beings in one world who have one thought, they can know it, and so do the hundred and ten worlds." All realms that are not heard by him are ultimately undesirable. ”

Reaching this point, pure awareness pervades the world, and all sentient beings can know it clearly with just one thought. Let's take a story and explain this a little bit. Hu Linyi, a famous general in the Qing Dynasty, although a Confucian, also meditated, but he did not cross his legs. Chinese Confucians also emphasize the work of meditation. Once at night when he was camped, everyone was resting, and he sat quietly in the camp. In the middle of the night, the troops were suddenly ordered to assemble urgently, and when the enemy sneaked in, the troops immediately drove to the ditch ten miles to the northwest.

When we arrived at our destination, we found a group of enemies and won the battle. The officers and men of the whole army rejoiced and did not need to be questioned. Of course, some generals asked Hu Linyi, "Marshal! How do you know there's an enemy coming to sneak in? He said: "I sat quietly at night, and the silence was so deep that I could hear the sounds from within a radius of ten miles, and the enemy passed through the ditch and alarmed the wild ducks and geese under the reeds. "Here, just to give an example, the realm of the Buddha and the Bodhisattva is of course greater, not only the voice can be heard, but the mind can be known as soon as it moves.

"The same is true of a hundred thousand worlds", and the realm of the great bodhisattva is even greater, not only one world can know it, but also a hundred thousand worlds can also know it. "All realms that are not heard by the other are ultimately undesirable." If we mortals can also know the minds of sentient beings, then we can be busy, this one wants to get rich, that wants to hurt people, what should we do? All this is like a passing cloud, and all this does not hinder the purity of the Self.
