After retirement, Wang Zhihua enthusiastically participated in public welfare activities, served as a community school instructor, became a model of helping others, and was awarded the title of Moral Model of Xuhui District in 2020, the Five Good Civilized Families of Shanghai in 2002-2003, and the Outstanding Communist Party Member of Shanghai Radio, Film and Television Bureau in 1997-1998.

Dreams come true to start a career in acting
"I grew up in the director of the Shanghai Film Studio, and I am also a child of the Upper Shadow." Wang Zhihua began to talk about his acting career from this sentence. His mother was a director at the Shanghai Film Studio, and his neighbors were mostly workers, actors, and directors at the Shanghai Film Studio. Immersed in the strong atmosphere of performing arts, Wang Zhihua's young soul also planted the seeds of dreams.
Faced with the choice of life direction, Wang Zhihua firmly pursues his dream. After the college entrance examination results came out, the high school teacher also made difficulties, because according to the score, he could be admitted to the physics department of the University of Science and Technology of China, but he was concerned about performance, and the teacher asked him to go back to seek his parents' opinions. Although the father, who is a physics teacher, very much wants the child to learn physics from his father,the parents ultimately decide to respect the child's wishes.

After embarking on the road of acting, his mother's influence on him became more and more important. Wang Zhihua recalled that her mother, from the field note, assistant director to assistant director, and then to the director, had a solid style and was very capable, and many directors rushed to cooperate with their mothers. Once, my mother participated in the filming of "Sentinel under the Neon Lights", filmed for a day and a night, slept for 2 hours and then went to work, in order to prepare for the inspection before the start of filming. But after Wang Zhihua graduated, he did not start his career in Shangying. In 1984, with the similar appearance of Guangxu on the portrait, by chance, Wang Zhihua participated in the film "Tan Sitong" directed by Chen Jialin, starring in the role of "Guangxu Emperor". Speaking of the film, he was impressed. On the one hand, this was a turning point in his career, gradually transforming from a drama actor and stage actor to a professional film actor; on the other hand, thanks to this rare opportunity, Wang Zhihua "got close" to the turbulent modern Chinese history.
"We shot this play very seriously, and the experts of the Forbidden City told us about history and the relationship between the characters, and all the scenes were filmed on real scenes." Wang Zhihua still clearly remembers the scene where he was frustrated by the change of law, and the Guangxu Emperor, who he played, angrily threw the jade seal in front of the hundred officials of the Qianqing Palace. In 1996, Wang Zhihua starred as a member of the Communist Party's underground intelligence organization in the TV series "Secret One". Recalling this play, he was deeply impressed by a scene - that is, the underground party member "Li Chu", played by Wang Zhihua, witnessed that his comrade was about to be shot, subconsciously turned his head to the side, and could not bear to continue watching.
"Underground party members are also people, and there are also common feelings of people." Wang Zhihua believes that it is this "unbearable to look" detail that makes the role full, so that the audience can truly feel the difficulties of the early party members when they joined the revolution, the contradictions in the face of the reactionary forces attacking the weak ribs, and it also proves the precious value of the party members who still firmly believe in their ideals and unyielding struggle when they are facing the moment of life and death.
Studying party history and modern history during the performance also made Wang Zhihua have a deeper understanding of the original mission of the Communist Party of China and cherish his party membership. He often admonished himself, "To act like a party member", and always set strict demands on himself in his work and life. It is precisely with this style of self-discipline and dedication that he has gained a good reputation in Shangying, won the praise of his colleagues, and was rated as an outstanding communist party member of the Shanghai Municipal Radio, Film and Television Bureau in 1998.

After his retirement, Wang Zhihua is not idle, and now he shuttles through the streets and alleys of Shanghai every day, while organizing community schools for the elderly to shoot the theme recitation video of "Striving for a Hundred Years road and setting sail for a new journey", while working as a recitation instructor in many primary schools in Shanghai.
