Netflix's long-produced League of Legends show has a release date. The service has confirmed that its animated series Arcane will premiere on November 6 at 10 p.m. ET. Therefore, a new trailer (bottom) sets the stage. It highlights the origins of the sisters (and LoL heroines) Kinks and Wei as they struggle with the dangers of Hex technology (the magic used by science) and the social inequality between the wealthy cities of Piltwolf and the dungeon Zuan.
The series features Hayley Steinfield of Spider-Man as Ella Penel of the Peacekeeping Army of the Undead as Kinks. Netflix and Riot are also hoping to stand out from other CG titles in the show's unique hand-drawn style (which Riot fans may be familiar with).
It's not certain if Arcane will succeed, but Netflix has had some success with game-related shows like Castlevania — a franchise that has passed its heyday. A league legendary series may thrive thanks to the continued popularity of the MOBA title ...and hopefully its own merits.
