A 40-year-old Chinese man in Italy was killed on the spot on his way home from rush hour

At around 18:45 p.m. yesterday, Hu Qiulei, a 40-year-old Chinese man who lives and works in the town of Dueville in Vicenza province, rode his bicycle home, preparing to cross the road along the Passo di Riva section of the 248 Schiavonesca Marosticana Provincial Road.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he stood on the road, he was slammed into by a Ford Smax car, and the huge impact force made him hit the hood first, and his head hit the windshield of the car hard, and the windshield was broken on the spot. Then it bounced heavily to the ground, and the bicycle in his hand had already been knocked a few meters away.

The 57-year-old driver quickly got out of the car to check and called the 118 ambulance number and the gendarme police number. Unfortunately, by the time the ambulance arrived at the scene of the incident, the Chinese man was dead.

The driver of the accident, a Padua native, told the police that he had not seen the Chinese man beforehand and that by the time he found him, it was too late to brake. Based on the on-site investigation, the police determined that the crash site was not on the zebra crossing, and basically determined that the Chinese man was hit when he crossed the provincial road in violation of the law. It was rush hour, and it was dark, and the driver who caused the accident said that the line of sight was not very good, which was completely accidental.

The local police are conducting further investigations to reconstruct the true circumstances of the accident and to investigate the driver who caused the accident, charging him with road murder.
