On August 9, Renault Group and Geely Holding Group officially announced that the two sides have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish an innovative partnership. The two sides will carry out key cooperation in the field of hybrid models, and will focus on the two major markets of China and South Korea.
It is understood that the cooperation between Renault and Geely will rely on Geely's vehicle structure to promote. Renault said that Geely has a mature industrial layout and strong technical strength, the two sides will be based on Geely's platform technology to jointly develop Renault brand hybrid models, at the same time, Renault will also make full use of the brand strategy, content and channels, ecological service development and optimize the user journey in the advantages to create value for consumers.
In South Korea, one of Renault's main markets, Renault and Geely will cooperate based on the CMA architecture of the Lynk & Co energy-saving platform to jointly develop models suitable for the Korean market.
Previously, there were also rumors that Renault Group wanted to seek the help of Geely Automobile and hoped to produce fuel vehicles with the help of Geely Automobile's CMA structure. When Renault announced its results for the first half of this year, the company also emphasized that it will reshape its business model in China and develop new mobility solutions for China and the global market with the help of China's competitive industrial ecosystem.
At present, Renault has three joint ventures in China, including Jiangling New Energy and EasyJet New Energy in the new energy sector that cooperate with Jiangling Group, and Renault Brilliance Gold Cup joint venture in the commercial vehicle segment.
