Cat Breed Inventory 5: Himalayan cats

I don't know if there are any friends who like to watch anime? Here Ono gives everyone an old-fashioned bloody anime - "The Prince of Tennis", as a full-fledged middle school girl of the year, many of the characters in the net king are also called the well-known characters in the first generation of anime gods in childhood. Once because of this hot-blooded and youthful anime, I went to sign up for the tennis club without hesitation, and later found that the people who signed up at the same time were all for this anime.

As the male number one in the anime, Echizen Ryoma can be said to be out of the limelight, this unruly teenager is arrogant and confident, but it is easy to provoke girls to cry. Such a guy with an emotional intelligence of almost zero, but to a cat named "Karubin" exhausted tenderness, every day there is nothing to tease the cat, bathe together and sleep together, the bag has a picture of the cat, even the dream words shout the name of the cat.

What kind of cat is this "Karubin"? The coal digger's face made Ono think it was a Siamese, and when he looked closely, his big round face, chubby figure, and long hair looked like a Persian cat. Oh ~ ~ this is not Siam, nor is it Persia. Instead, it is a new breed that combines the two , the accent color longhair cat , also known as the Himalayan cat. Today we will tell the story of the Himalayan cat.

Origins

Himalayan cats don't have particularly interesting myths and legends. Maybe it's not old enough, or maybe it's a cultivar that was artificially researched, and its history is just a textbook-like timeline. It is estimated that for most of my friends, such a timeline is boring, and Ono is here to tell you a rough idea.

The history of the Himalayan cat dates back to 1924, when a Swedish geneticist crossed siamese, Burmese and Persian cats without success. By 1930, american and British researchers who had studied certain characteristics of genetics removed Burmese cats and crossed Siamese cats with Persian cats, and in 1935 developed a long-haired, Siamese cat spotted, moderately sized breed, which was the original Himalayan cat.

After continuous improvement, ACFA and CFA recognized the breed in 1955 and 1957 respectively, and gave it the name of the Himalayan cat.

Of course, this name has nothing to do with the Himalayas, but because the shape and color of this cat is a bit similar to that of a rabbit called "Himalaya" (the person who named it is really willful). By 1961, all major cat-keeping associations in the United States had recognized Himalayan cats.

Appearance characteristics

Regarding the characteristics of the Himalayan cat, the difference between different pedigrees is quite large, and the "standards" of each institution are different, and even the Himalayan cats bred by different breeders are not the same.

But they all have the same gorgeous long hair as Persian cats, and their bodies are as strong and stout as Persian cats, and they are standard "short-legged horses" shapes. Even from its rounded head, short limbs, and collapsed nose, it is clear that it is a close relative of the Persian cat.

From Siamese cats, Himalayan cats inherited the dark color and pattern of their coat and the sapphire blue eyes (the eyes must be blue).

Coated color

Like Siamese cats, Himalayan cats are basically white at birth, but only later do these typical markings gradually appear on the face, limbs, toes and tail. These markings are evenly colored and contrast sharply with the fur on the body. Of course, like Siam, this change in the shade of the accent color is also affected by the temperature, so if you are not careful, your Himalayan cat will become a coal miner.

Himalayan cats come in many different shades. In 1957, the CFA recognized only four Himalayan cat colors: seal, blue, chocolate, and lilac accent. Later, a series of key colors such as flames and bobcats appeared, as well as tortoiseshell colors and tabby colors. More than 20 coat colours have been registered in the "standard".

Personality

A qualified "mixed-race child" will more or less inherit some of his fathers and mothers in temperament. A good "half-race" should combine the advantages of both. The Himalayan cat is so good, its personality is between the Persian cat and the Siamese cat, more lively and close to people than the Persian cat, but not as grumpy and noisy as the Siamese cat.

Himalayan cats are ideal for domestic pets, and they will accept children from the family and most other pets. But like all longhair cats, their care is much more troublesome than that of shorthair cats. Like Persian cats, diseases in their eyes and respiratory system require attention.

Blending the gentle femininity of a Persian cat, the Siamese cat is intelligent and gentle, playful and docile, eager to be pampered but not too clingy. Do you like Himalayan cats?
