Yunnan golden snub-nosed monkey, also known as black and white nose-nosed monkey, is a unique and world-famous rare and endangered primate in China, is a national first-class protected animal, now distributed in the narrow area between the Lancang River and the Jinsha River, north to the Hongla Mountain in Xiaochangdu Township, Mangkang County, Tibet, and south to the Tianchi area of Yunlong County.
At present, a total of 17 Populations of Yunnan Golden Snub-nosed Monkeys have been found, about 3,000 of them, and the distribution area is less than 20,000 square kilometers (about 30 million mu).
Yunlong Tianchi National Nature Reserve is located at the southernmost end of this narrow and long distribution area, and the superior natural conditions make it the "southernmost home of the Yunnan golden snub-nosed monkey". There are two populations of Yunnan golden snub-nosed monkeys in the reserve, including about 150 in the Longma Mountain area and about 20 in the Tianchi Xiaoping area.
