The School of Philosophy of Wuhan University recently released a news that on October 14, at the meeting of academicians of the International School of Philosophy of Science (Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences, abbreviated as AIPS) held at zadar University in Croatia, Professor Chen Bo of the School of Philosophy of Wuhan University was elected as an official academician of AIPS and reported the paper "The Naturalism of Quin: Clarification and Defense" to the conference through the network platform.
This is another international honor he received following his election to the International School of Philosophy (IIP) in 2018 and the first Chinese (including Chinese) fellowship of the AIPS.
According to the School of Philosophy of Wuhan University, Chen Bo, born in 1957, is from Changde, Hunan. He holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Hunan Normal University, a master's degree in philosophy and a doctorate in philosophy from Chinese University, and was previously a professor in the Department of Philosophy of Peking University (1999-2021), a second-level professor (2012-2021), and a doctoral supervisor (1999-2021).
In September 2021, Chen Bo was transferred to the School of Philosophy of Wuhan University as a Chair Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences, a doctoral supervisor, specializing in logic and analytic philosophy, and his specific research areas include: philosophy of logic, philosophy of language, theory of knowledge, history of logic, history of analytic philosophy, comparison of Chinese and Western philosophy, and American pragmatism.
Earlier in 2018, Chen Bo was elected a fellow of the Institut International Philosophy de Philosophie (IIP), which was founded in 1937 in Paris, France. According to the IIP Charter, the number of official academicians cannot exceed 115. At present, there are 66 official academicians and 39 honorary academicians from many countries who have been elected, including official academicians Du Weiming, Yang Guorong, Chen Bo and honorary academician Qiu Renzong who represent China.
