The Sun Yueqi Energy Science and Technology Award, which includes the Energy Award, the Youth Science and Technology Award, the Outstanding Student Award of Coal and Petroleum Colleges and Universities and the Hometown Education Award, is one of the first 26 social force awards approved by the State Science and Technology Awards Office, and is reviewed and awarded once a year. A total of 4 Sun Yueqi Energy Awards, 20 Youth Science and Technology Awards, 174 Outstanding Student Awards, and 8 Hometown Education Awards were presented at this year's award ceremony. Zhao Hui: I hope to leave something useful for the oil industry
In 2011, he joined the School of Petroleum Engineering of Yangtze University, and was promoted to associate professor in 2013; in 2017, he was promoted to professor and doctoral supervisor, and was selected into the leading talents and outstanding talents program of Yangtze University; and in 2019, he was approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Youth Fund Project. The teacher who advanced at rocket speed is Professor Zhao Hui of the School of Petroleum and Engineering of our university, who is mainly engaged in the research and application of intelligent oil and gas reservoir development theory.
Many people know that the 29-year-old associate professor, 33-year-old professor and doctoral supervisor is a representative of the "smooth life" of middle age; but many people do not know what is the story behind this "life winner" with rich scientific research results.
On July 6, 2019, at the science and technology award conference held by the school, Zhao Hui used the "morality, meritorious service, and speech" in Chinese culture as his life pursuit in his speech. "Li De" is to stand on a three-foot pulpit, teach and educate people, and peach and plum are full of gardens; "Li Gong" is to take root in the petroleum industry, work tirelessly, and serve social development; "Li Yan" is to devote himself to scientific research and scholarship, write books and says, and pass them on to future generations; and then achieve "long time without waste" and "immortality throughout the ages." In a bright classroom at the University of Tulsa, an old man with white hair is writing on a blackboard board, and he is still insisting on handwriting the derivation formula. Not only in class, but also in the research group meeting, every formula used in the students' scientific research results, he strives to master, calculate and deduce. The 70-year-old is the recipient of the International SPE Lifetime Honorary Achievement Award and the Franklin Award, and Zhao Hui's instructor when he studied in the United States.
This most "clumsy" method of the tutor taught Zhao Hui not only to be a manager of scientific research, but also to be an academic expert and a master of internal skills. Whether it is work or life, Zhao Hui is always down-to-earth, truth-seeking and pragmatic, and does not take chances.
Chinese New Year's Eve, when thousands of homes were brightly lit and every household was full of festive celebrations and liveliness, Zhao Hui sat alone at his desk, facing the glimmer of the computer screen, and repeatedly revised the application for the National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Youth Fund. Aim firmly and concentrate intently
Zhao Hui has taken "smart oil and gas reservoir development" as his main scientific research direction since his doctoral studies in Tulsa, USA, and in the past 11 years, he has taken root and developed in this field. This field is different from traditional oil and gas field development research, and the "smart" formulation comes from abroad, but the research applied to the field of oil and gas reservoirs is still blank.
In 2013, Zhao Hui proposed a set of data-driven intelligent reservoir simulation and optimization models BASED ON INSIM. In the early days of the theory, it was not recognized by authoritative experts in the industry, and even his foreign mentors questioned it. In the bottleneck period of scientific research, Zhao Hui also had loss and doubts. But based on research into experimental data and industry trends, he believed in his initial judgment.
The road of insisting on scientific research is lonely, in the day-to-day as dull repetition as white water, imagining, experimenting, researching, overturning, repeating, over and over again, he is constantly improving the model. After three years of persistence, his proposal was finally recognized by some well-known experts and professors abroad. After its publication in the SPE Journal in 2016, the results were reported as an important technological breakthrough by JPT (Journal of Petroleum Technology), the oil industry's largest news magazine.
In his view, the intelligent optimization of oil and gas reservoir development is the "root" of his scientific research, and he must wholeheartedly put the "root" firmly and firmly, and the scientific research projects attached to the growth of tree roots will flourish. Under his tireless roots and perseverance, through nearly ten years of systematic research, he has formed a set of intelligent reservoir simulation and real-time optimization and regulation system with independent property rights, breaking the monopoly of foreign technology and of great significance to the informatization and intelligent construction of oil and gas fields in China.
It is also this attitude of focusing on doing one thing well, which makes him a leader in the field of intelligent oil reservoirs, and more and more members of his team have come to join him. Rao Xiang in 1994 was one of them, and he graduated with a doctorate at the age of 26, came to Wuhan from Beijing alone, and mao volunteered to join Zhao Hui's team.

In terms of student training, he gets along with students with an attitude of mentoring and friendship, and shares his experience in studying abroad and scientific research with everyone unreservedly in class. This makes courses that are only open to undergraduates attract doctoral and master's students to observe.
