author:Cold leaf

Confucius, a native of the State of Lu (present-day Qufu, Shandong Province) during the Spring and Autumn Period, was a famous thinker, educator, and founder of the Confucian school in ancient China, and was the most knowledgeable person in society at that time. He has been revered by many later chinese emperors as "Kong Sage, Most Holy, Most Holy Ancestor, And Master of All Ages", and his ideas have a profound impact on the development of the entire human race. Today, in Qufu City, Jining, Shandong Province, there are Confucius House, Confucius Temple, and Confucius Forest, collectively known as the "Three Holes", which is a symbol of Chinese dynasties commemorating Confucius and promoting Confucianism. With its grand scale, long history and profound cultural accumulation, Sankong has been inscribed on the World Heritage List by the United Nations.

Today I would like to talk about the "Confucius House" among these three holes. Speaking of Confucius House, I believe everyone knows that it is located in qufu City, Shandong Province, on the east side of the Confucius Temple, and the Confucius Temple is only separated by a wall. Qufu, the hometown of Confucius, where Confucius pioneered Confucian culture and taught at the altar, laid a deep Confucian imprint on Chinese history for more than 2,000 years.

Confucius House, also known as Yan Sheng Gong Fu, is the residence of confucius's hereditary descendants of Yan Sheng Gong. In the tenth year of Ming Hongwu (1377 AD), Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang ordered Yan Shenggong (the hereditary title of Confucius's eldest son, from the Northern Song Dynasty to the second year, through the Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, until the 24th of the Republic of China) to set up a lawsuit and ordered the establishment of a mansion east of the former residence of Qufu Queli.

In the centuries that followed, The Confucius Mansion of Qufu was rebuilt many times after many fires and disrepair. Nowadays, the Confucius House we see is basically a building of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, covering a total area of 7.4 hectares, divided into nine courtyards, the layout of the east, middle and west roads, there are a total of 480 ancient buildings, which is a typical Chinese aristocratic home, with the saying of "the first in the world".

As the residence of Kong's descendants, the holy will of successive emperors, the praise of the imperial court, and the ink treasures and inscriptions and stone carvings of many literati are lined up, which can be described as the honor of Hui Kyushu as one, and the great achievement of the world's culture. It has become one of the most prestigious tourist attractions in China, attracting countless tourists from all over the world to come here every day.

However, when countless tourists came to the gate of Confucius Palace, in addition to being shocked by this magnificent building, many people seemed to have discovered some of the "problems". On the main gate of the Confucius Palace hangs a plaque with gold characters on a blue background written by the Ming Dynasty Prime Minister Yan Song, and on the persimmons below hangs a couplet written by Ji Xiaolan, a scholar and great scholar of the Qing Dynasty.

Ji Xiaolan must be no stranger to everyone, and his film and television works alone have made him a household name in recent years. To say that this couplet is definitely a rare good couplet, perfectly integrated with the magnificent architectural complex of Confucius House. However, when we look closely at this couplet, many people will find that there are two "typos". The first is that the "rich" in the Shanglian "and Guoxian Xiu An Fu Honorable Gongfu Di" is a little less on it.

In the lower link "The Same Day and Old Article Moral Saint's House", the last vertical of the word "chapter" breaks out of the sun. For these two "typos" there are many sayings, the local tour guide said: the rich word above a little less, meaning "rich and noble without a roof", the chapter word a vertical to the top, meaning "the article through the sky". And the word is titled "the most cultured typo". However, some people say that this is Ji Xiaolan's deliberate intention, which has another deep meaning.

Could Ji Xiaolan, the chief compiler of the Four Libraries, really write two "typos" hanging here, and still need posterity to try all kinds of ways to make up for them? Or is it really something else? In fact, we think carefully about how high the status of Confucius is among the emperors of the past, and there are extremely strict norms for the writing of the "three holes" and plaques, how can there be a typo. As long as you look closely at some of the ancient inscriptions, there are many ways to write the "冨" character and the "chapter" word vertically, which are widely used, and now that the Chinese characters are simplified, these writing methods have been eliminated, and there is a modern "Oolong Incident", in fact, such words have appeared in many monuments across the country.
