Anecdotes about The Zai Li Bing Station in Gaoping City

Zai Li Primary School is located in the Jade Emperor Temple, a large temple in Zai Li Village, Gaoping City. The temple gate is still the same, but there are two more signs on both sides of the door, and the words "Eighth Route Army Soldier Station" are on the signs. This made me suddenly remember that when I was a child, my fathers often chanted some words such as "military station" and "command headquarters" that were incomplete and difficult to understand, so it also aroused my impulse to explore this.

After the outbreak of the All-out War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in 1937, the three main forces of the Eighth Route Army crossed the Yellow River in the east to the anti-Japanese front in North China. On November 11, 1937, the 129th Division, in accordance with the decision of the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, went to southeastern Jin to establish a new base area. In order to maintain contact with the Party Central Committee in a timely and regular manner, after the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army was transferred to Wuxiang, a communication line was gradually established from Wuxiang to Yan'an via Pingshun, Lingchuan, Yangcheng, Yuanqu, and across the Yellow River through Xi'an. In February 1938, Gaoping built the sixth substation, which was located on the Great Temple (Jade Emperor Temple) in Zaili Village. This substation is directly under the leadership of the Logistics Department of the Forward Headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, and is equipped with more than 20 cadres of the Eighth Route Army, more than 90 soldiers (including a guard platoon, a transportation platoon, a cooking squad, and a medical team), Huang Caolong as the station chief, and Dong Hongguo as the instructor. The sixth substation has jurisdiction over Lingchuan Yuju Traffic Station and Jincheng Donggou Police Station.

The Sixth Substation and its subordinate units vigorously publicized the all-round War of Resistance in Gaoping, Lingchuan, and Jincheng in the areas of Gaoping, Lingchuan, and Jincheng in their public capacity, mobilized the masses to collect donations for the anti-Japanese resistance, supported the front line, and mobilized young people to join the anti-Japanese contingent. The main task of the station is to treat the important wounded and sick transferred from the front and to transfer some overly wounded and sick to the headquarters hospital. Another major task of the station is to protect the passing personnel of the Eighth Route Army of the Party Central Committee, transport the weapons and ammunition of the troops and various military materials, and deliver important documents and letters of the Party Central Committee and the Eighth Route Army. Because the work engaged in by the station involves major activities of the party and important secrets, all personnel in the station are required to strictly observe discipline and ensure that the work is foolproof. At that time, many important leaders of the Party Central Committee and the Eighth Route Army passed by here, and the personnel in the station never casually inquired about the names and relevant information of these leaders, but only tried their best to complete their respective tasks. The hospital here has received many important wounded and sick, and some important leaders of the Party Central Committee and the Eighth Route Army have done short-term convalescence in the hospital, but everyone strictly abides by the system, the wounded and sick are used according to numbers and pseudonyms, and the medical personnel are conscientious and conscientious, and it is honorable to complete their tasks with excellence.

In December 1939, the anti-communist "Jinxi Incident" broke out. In February 1940, Sun Chu of the Yan Army led a regiment to suddenly attack the Donggou police station in one night, and the cadres and fighters in the station fought back heroically, struggled to resist, and finally almost all of them were martyred. At the same time as the Donggou police station was suddenly attacked, another Kuomintang armed force sneaked into the Yuju Traffic Station, and all the personnel in the station were captured. After the enemy succeeded in two sneak attacks, he was overwhelmed and pressed forward to the sixth substation. At this time, the station commander Huang Caolong was ordered to attend the Central Party School, and soon after Yang Yuxian took over as the station chief, when the enemy was only four kilometers away from Zaili Village, Yang Yuxian ordered all cadres, soldiers, and more than a hundred wounded and sick to break through. During the breakout, the soldiers carried all important military documents, materials and medical equipment with them, and the seriously injured and sick who could not break through and some materials and supplies were handed over to the local people for protection. All the commanders and fighters fought bravely and well, avoided the enemy's sharp edge, detoured south, and then went straight to Pingshun. After Yan Xishan's army, which attacked Zaili Village, entered the village with guns and live ammunition, the personnel of the sixth substation were safely transferred, and the wounded and sick and military materials left behind were also protected by the masses. Later, the soldiers of the station went to another secret line of communication in the northwest of Jin to continue to participate in the battle.

After visiting some of the elderly who knew about it, during the period when the soldiers station was stationed in Zaili Village, the people of Zaili Village assisted the station in doing a lot of work. Zaili Village once sent 36 soldiers to the Eighth Route Army (according to the old branch secretary Sun Manyu dictated); during the period when the station was stationed in the village, there were wounded and sick people who died in my village, and on the south bank of the nine groups of the river in our village, there were the remains of two martyrs (according to the villager Xu Heihou' dictation); it was even more common for migrant workers to transport materials. Villager Sun Fusheng dictated that when his father Sun Wu'er went to deliver pigs to the Eighth Route Army, he encountered rain and snow at night and froze his toes.

According to the historical data that can be found, 19 revolutionary martyrs in Zaili Village have sacrificed their lives one after another.

The eighth route army soldiers in Zaili Village stood during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, which was a very important link in the torrent of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and played a major role and contribution to the War of Resistance. Today, the Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army's Zai Li Bing Station has been completed, becoming a revolutionary traditional education base for local teenagers, and has been identified as the "Education Base for Ideals and Beliefs in Hexi Town, Gaoping City" and the "Cpc History Education Base in Jincheng City.", which comforts the martyrs of the predecessors and also makes us the old comrades who participated in the preparatory work from beginning to end deeply pleased.
