In California, A woman protects her child from attacks on mountain lions with her bare hands. This was reported by CBS Los Angeles TV Channel on August 28.
The incident took place in the city of Calabasas. A five-year-old boy was playing in the yard of the house when suddenly a cougar attacked him, dragging him about 40 meters, heard the child's crying, and his mother ran out of the house and began to beat the cougar. The woman managed to drive away the cougar.
The boy was taken to hospital. NSN wrote that doctors recorded injuries to his head, neck and torso. According to Gazeta.ru, doctors assess that the child's condition is currently stable.
Authorities said the cougar was eventually shot dead by a conservation officer. According to the TV channel, there has been no mountain lion attack on a person in the region for more than two decades.
A similar story has happened in the state before. In June, a big bear crawled into the courtyard of a private home. The small dog in the house tried to drive it away, and the owner, worried about the safety of the pet's life, hurried away the predator. The bear fled.
