In order to broaden teachers' horizons, promote teachers' professional development, and accelerate the pace of building a project-based learning curriculum in our school, from March 21 to 24, 2021, under the personal leadership of President Huang Tao, the school organized 7 teachers to go to two full-curriculum experimental schools in Guangzhou and Dongguan (Affiliated School of Guangdong Panyu Middle School and Songshan Lake No. 2 Primary School in Dongguan City) to observe and learn, appreciate different educational concepts and teaching modes, and teachers listened, studied, recorded, and participated in discussions and exchanges.

Illuminate a child's childhood with "a beam of light"
On March 22, the school where the teachers observed and studied was the affiliated school of Guangzhou Panyu Middle School, and the day's learning began with a morning circle reading class. Morning chanting is the ritual of opening a beautiful day, and it makes every day very ritualistic. In the morning reading class, the teacher and the children of the class sang "Sunflower" together in a circle while doing the action, and the faces of the teachers and children in such a pleasant and joyful morning reading class were full of happy smiles, which made us feel the breath of spring coming. This was followed by a picture book lesson "Benny Rabbit's Spring", in which the teacher led the children to read picture books, the class was relaxed and active, and the children were also very relaxed.
The teachers then enjoyed an educational drama lesson, Root Doll, a picture book in the first-grade curriculum reading book. Through mr. Li Zhencun's introduction, teachers know that educational drama is for children to learn with their entire body, let go and experience, and there is no standard answer. Educational drama is not a performance drama, let alone an art class, using drama elements, such as: role experience, role simulation, situational experience and other fundamental qualities to cultivate people. On the 23rd, I also listened to an educational drama course "Three Goats" at Songshan Lake No. 2 Primary School, and the core of the two classes was to let the children learn and experience wholeheartedly.
In Fanfu, the teachers also listened to various course introductions: the opening course, the full curriculum report of the language teaching and research group, and the introduction of the principal of the affiliated school (primary school) of Guangdong Panyu Middle School (Primary School) on the curriculum of the whole school. President Wang highly summarized the practical experience of the whole course from three aspects: the background of the whole course, the classic cases, and the significance of opening the whole course. Let teachers feel that learning must be combined with real life, learning must start from student problems, and learning must become the need of children's lives.
Use the whole curriculum to leverage the transformation of education ecology
On March 23, the school where the teachers observed and studied was The Second Primary School of Songshan Lake in Dongguan City, and as soon as they entered the campus, the modern design style attracted the attention of the teachers: on the first floor, 10 duplex functional rooms such as pottery clubs, carpentry workshops, bakeries, and Ai zhizuo were set up. The most attractive thing about visiting the campus is that the school creates a creative campus culture for children. They incorporate books that children are familiar with into the creation of campus cultural scenes, providing scenes but not defining functions. Each scene is connected to a book; each scene provides a variety of choices; and each scene becomes a curriculum resource.
In Songhu No.2 Primary School, the teachers listened to a series of activities such as full-course demonstration classes, course sharing, and class evaluation exchanges, and realized that students really became the masters of the classroom, they had to cooperate and communicate, and there were many opportunities for students to stand up and express themselves. It is also recognized that the essence of whole-curriculum education is the all-round development of children. Principal Sun Daoming of Songshan Lake No. 2 Primary School also made a report on "Using the Whole Curriculum to Leverage the Ecological Transformation of Education" to the experts and teachers who came to observe and learn, Principal Sun believed that children should always maintain their curiosity about the world, and introduced the "Whole Person Education Curriculum System" of Songshan Lake No. 2 Primary School to the teachers, which makes daily learning a way of life, provides children with a variety of choices, and cultivates children's innovative spirit. These are different from traditional teaching methods.
Experience sharing promotes improvement
On the one hand, this observation and learning is to learn from each other's strong points, and on the other hand, to show the achievements of the whole course of our school. Principal Huang Tao introduced to all teachers that the school officially became the practice base of "whole curriculum PBL project learning" in September 2020, with the concept of "PBL project learning", drawing on the advanced teaching concepts and school running experience of Shanghai and other pioneer areas, in October 2020, the school has explored and implemented a series of "project-based learning activities" such as "initial course", "whole book reading", "educational drama" and "interdisciplinary learning". In January 2021, each grade designed a project-based learning activity manual based on the reading of the whole book, which is rich in content and diverse in form. From the first grade to the fifth grade, teachers and students feel different learning styles and different experiences.
Finally, Yuan Hongwei, head of the basic education section of the Luyang District Education and Sports Bureau, made a concluding speech on the whole activity. She believes that "going out and bringing in" is a practical training method, which is conducive to expanding teachers' horizons, enriching teachers' theoretical connotations, and promoting the rapid growth of teachers. At the same time, she said that under the guidance of experts and the strong support of the Luyang District Education and Sports Bureau, the whole curriculum education of Luyang Shixiao will definitely change the teaching method, change the education ecology, and give children a happy and happy childhood.
Spring wind and rain, moisturizing things silent. We are learning, we are practicing, we are reaping, we are thinking. During the four-day observation and learning, the teachers were full of harvest.
Everyone expressed their desire to apply the teaching concepts they learned to their own teaching work, and strive to improve the efficiency of the classroom so that students can get good development.
"A really good school is when a child has a good academic performance and is able to grow up in an all-round way, and strives to balance the two and have both." Luyang Shixiao has been working hard and forging ahead towards such a goal.
