Reading the First of the Ten Thousand Classics, The Way to Enlightenment, Chapter 6 of the Tao Te Ching , "The Gate of Xuanmu"

Original text: Ceres does not die, it is called Xuanmu. The Gate of Xuanmu is the root of heaven and earth. It goes on and on and on.

Translation: The Tao is unpredictable and eternal, and it is called "Xuanmu" (玄牝). The Gate of Xuanmu is the root of all things in heaven and earth. It lives on and on, inexhaustible.

Study Notes: The Tao Te Ching is inexhaustible, and each study will have different gains. Especially if you encounter something by chance and go back to studying the Tao Te Ching, you will have unexpected gains. For example, in the sixth chapter, in the previous learning process, my consciousness has always stayed on the interpretation of "Mu", and like many novices when they came into contact with the Tao Te Ching, they think that this "Mu" refers to the reproductive system of females, which also makes me ambiguous, what does "Xuanmu Gate" refer to? I certainly won't refer to some indecent things.

After a while, I suddenly felt that my understanding when I first read the Tao Te Ching was correct. Here Lao Tzu uses the word "mu" to refer to indeed females.

Ceres, well, we can understand that Lao Tzu was not a very serious so-called apologist. In order to explain the immortality and immortality of the "Tao", Lao Tzu explained it with "Mu", which really refers to the female characteristics of all things. For the "gate" that gives birth to all things is the "gate of Xuanmu." This has a very simple purpose, because everything in the world is born of "Mu", and the world's readers are easy to understand, and Lao Tzu cannot care about the "existence of heavenly reason and the destruction of human desires" of science, and directly describes the "Tao" as "the gate of Xuanmu", the purpose is only to explain that the Tao is the birthplace of all things in the world, the source of life.

Ceres, valley, is the meaning of the valley, then what is the god of ceres, in fact, the so-called ceres, is also created by Lao Tzu, a great sage who does not pay attention to the rules, just to be consistent with the form of "Mu". Using "Ceres" to represent "Tao", Ceres does not die, and the "Tao" is eternal life. The "Tao" of eternal life, like the mother, gives birth to all things in the world, and the "Tao" like ceres is the "root" of all things in heaven and earth.

This "Tao" that gives birth to all things is as soft as all the mothers in the world, embracing all unbearable, disrespectful, and fearless, and it is precisely because of this characteristic that the "Tao" is inexhaustible.

The Tao is the root of heaven and earth, and whoever knows what the root of heaven and earth is, must be the one who has attained the Tao.
