From an inkblot, I thought of Chairman Mao's criticism of Zhang Wentian so frankly

This is Mao Zedong's inscription to Luo Lihua, a waiter at the Great Hall of the People, on February 24, 1966.

This handwriting is written in pencil. It seems to be written on a page of letterhead or an insert of a book. (Because the handwriting contains the words "Proletarians of the World Unite") in printed Song characters.) The handwriting is horizontal, the line is written, the text is five lines, and it is unsigned. The layout is flat and the lines are soothing. Hidden in the strange, contained in the grass. The word "meaning" appears short because of the complement. The words "criticism", "party", "department" and so on seem to be not stable.

Inscription content: "We must pay attention to using the method of criticism and self-criticism to analyze ourselves and treat contradictions among the people. February 24, 1966"

Chairman Mao has always attached importance to carrying out criticism and self-criticism and correctly handling contradictions among the people. He demanded of others, and he took the lead in doing so himself. From this I remembered that he had written an unusual letter of criticism. This letter was written to Zhang Wentian, and I read Zhang Wentian's report to Chairman Mao and Chairman Mao's letter to Zhang Wentian.

Letter to Zhang Wentian

Comrade Lof:

I read all three reports, and the third was the best. You are the one who has passed, and I extend a warm welcome and congratulations. I haven't been very satisfied with you.

When you were in Yan'an, you had a five-word criticism, do you remember? After entering the city, I said to Chen Yun and Enlai several times that you have a serious book anger and do not understand reality. I remember saying it to you in person.

Reading this report today has aroused my warm welcome to you. Four months a year, go and see the flowers, your advice is completely correct.

Comrades in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs take turns. My above view of you, or not quite right, may be overestimated for you, that is, the anger of the book, the anger of the great young master, has not been completely removed, has not yet been fully realized.

If so, it doesn't matter, you just keep improving.

But have you been able to write reports that appear in the past? Can there be such proletarian feelings? Can there be such a touching atmosphere? In my opinion, no. Now there is, it is passed, and it is massified, so I congratulate you!

Mao Zedong 1958, May 8, 3 a.m

Luopu, or Zhang Wentian, was the main leader of the party after the Zunyi Conference in 1935, above Chairman Mao, and was also a supporter of Chairman Mao. Their relationship must be unusual. But for the sake of the party's cause, they do not hide their selfish intentions and have something to say. I believe that everyone who reads this letter will be touched by Mao Zedong's honesty. The letter expressed "warm welcome and congratulations" for Zhang Wentian's progress, and his happiness overflowed into words, but at the same time he told the truth that "I have not been very satisfied with you", pointing out that he had a "serious bookish anger", and then the conversation turned around, saying that Zhang Wentian may be "overestimated" and "it doesn't matter, you continue to make progress." Finally, with a few rhetorical questions, Zhang Wentian could not have written such a report in the past, but now that he has figured it out, he once again "congratulates!" From this, we can see Chairman Mao's expectation that Zhang Wentian will completely correct his mistakes. (Li Yiming)
