Fruit growers were picking sour papayas in bamboo baskets, and cheerful laughter spread throughout the base.
In recent years, many local villagers have relied on the sour papaya industry to embark on the road to prosperity and live a "sweet" life.
Villager Ye Yingcheng family began to plant sour papaya in 1986, has a history of 35 years, planting area of more than 100 acres, the annual income of acid papaya alone reached more than 300,000 yuan.
According to Ye Yingcheng, when the sour papaya was first planted, due to the long-term influence of traditional agriculture, the cultivation of acid papaya in Xintang Village was difficult to form a scale, and many families even had the idea of giving up planting sour papaya. In view of this situation, after discussion, the members of the village "two committees" put forward the development model of "branch + association", and after extensive solicitation of opinions and in-depth investigation and research, the party branch of the Acid Papaya Association in Xintang Village was formally established in 2012.
"We promptly convened a meeting of the leading bodies of the two village committees, gave play to the role of collective wisdom and collective efforts, and carried out ideological guidance door to door; second, we strengthened the training of association members and enhanced their ability to serve the villagers; third, we gave full play to the role of grass-roots party members and cadres as a fighting fortress and grass-roots party branches to provide information and technical services for the sour papaya industry." Yang Xuemei, general secretary of the party branch of Xintang Village in Xinfu Town, told reporters.
With the joint efforts of the village party branch and the association, many villagers have dispelled their concerns and joined the ranks of sour papaya planting. The sour papayas full of trees in the mountains make the village cadres and farmers happy, but due to the large amount of fruit produced by the sour papayas and the oversupply, a large number of sour papayas are unsalable, and many fresh fruits rot in the homes of fruit farmers.
At this time, Ye Yingcheng, as the president of the Sour Papaya Association, and his wife Li Wanzhen looked in their eyes and were anxious in their hearts. It is understood that the sour papaya after brewing has a long sale time and a good taste, and is favored by the market. The couple went to the city in time to learn the sour papaya brewing technique and selflessly passed this technique on to the surrounding villagers.
"I am a women's group leader, but also a party member, one person is not really rich, everyone is rich is really rich, so I passed on the technique of soaking papaya that I learned to the surrounding people, develop together, and increase income together." Li Wanzhen said heartily.
Nowadays, every household in Xinfu Town has mastered the sour papaya brewing technology, and the members of the association have also continuously broadened the field of deep processing of acid papaya, and have successively produced unique dried fruits, sour papaya wine and other products. Farmers have no sales worries, to achieve the whole village scale planting, high-quality and excellent yield, fruit farmers have formed long-term acquisition and cooperation with Mojiang County, Puer City, Jinghong City, DaliZhou and other enterprises, acid papaya prices are also rising year by year, many villagers rely on the acid papaya industry on the road to prosperity.
"Today's purchase of this car of sour papaya to pull to Ninger, there are more than 8 tons, the price is 3.5 yuan a kilogram, can sell about 28,000." In previous years, the most purchased time reached more than 200 tons, and there was a net income of more than 100,000 yuan a year. Lou Wei, a villager in the high-volume trough group of Naxian Village in Xinfu Town, grows sour papayas and is also a local buyer.
In order to make the sour papaya industry bigger and stronger, the party branch of the Acid Papaya Association in Xintang Village continues to train and help the members of the association, and actively trains members who want to be officers and can join the party organization.
"In a few years, our party branch has developed 16 outstanding party members into rich experts, and 2 outstanding party members have developed in the hands of rich talents. Adhering to the slogan of 'leading the masses to work for the masses to see,' on the basis of continuously developing the industry, we have continuously improved the "double belt" ability of party members, and have successively led more than 80 peasant households in the village to plant sour papayas. Chen Qing, secretary of the acid papaya branch of Xintang Village in Xinfu Town, said.
In 2020, Xintang Village successfully achieved poverty alleviation, and the acid papaya industry alone drove 57 poor households in the village to get rid of poverty and become rich.

Mojiang County has been planting sour papaya for more than 100 years, mainly concentrated in Xinfu Town, in addition to Xinfu Town, Longtan Township has also planted 124 acres of acid papaya, this year's output of 37200 kg, calculated according to 3 yuan per kilogram, the output value can reach 111600 yuan. Nowadays, sour papaya has become a "happy melon" for the masses in Xinfu Town and Longtan Township to increase their income and become rich.
