In 1980, the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was established. This year, Shenzhen celebrates its fortieth birthday.

In the past 40 years, Shenzhen, a former small seaside fishing village, has become China's scientific and technological innovation center, and a number of scientific and technological innovation enterprises have taken root and sprouted here, gradually growing into a big tree in the sky. Their branches reach into the clouds, which is a continued exploration of the unknown and a persistent pioneering on the road of scientific and technological innovation.

On August 26, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Special Economic Zone, as one of the mainstream financial media in China, the Daily Economic News released the "Sustainable Innovation Report of A-share Listed Companies in shenzhen special zone (2020)". At the same time, one of the academic directors of the report, Professor Li Shipeng, executive director of the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, was also interviewed by the reporter of the Daily Economic News.

"Shenzhen is no longer an early foundry, it is now (the pillar industry) is a high-tech industry such as electronic information and communications." This also requires Shenzhen to continue to innovate, and the development of science and technology is still the last word. While "praising" Shenzhen's achievements today, Li Shipeng also reminded enterprises to embrace artificial intelligence for upgrading and transformation, "in the future, artificial intelligence must be a technology that can be seen everywhere like the Internet."

<h2>With innovative investment, sustainable development has "staying power"</h2>

Among the local leading enterprises in Shenzhen, Huawei, Tencent, Ping An, ZTE, DJI, etc., which are closely integrated with the development of science and technology, have great influence in their respective industries, driving the rapid development of scientific and technological innovation in Shenzhen.

According to the "Report on Sustainable Innovation of A-share Listed Companies in shenzhen special zone (2020)" (hereinafter referred to as the "report"), in the past five years, Shenzhen's R&amp;D investment has exceeded 90 billion yuan, and Shenzhen's R&amp;D investment intensity (R&amp;D funding as a proportion of GDP) in 2018 reached 4.8%, far higher than the national average of 2.1%. At the same time, the National Supercomputing Shenzhen Center, Pengcheng Laboratory, National Gene Bank, Daya Bay Neutrino Laboratory, etc. have successively landed in Shenzhen. In addition, as of the end of 2018, the number of state-level high-tech enterprises in Shenzhen exceeded 14,000, accounting for more than 40% of the total number in Guangdong Province.

According to Li Shipeng, there are many innovative companies in Shenzhen. Taking advantage of the opportunity to release the list, it also happened to conduct a "pulse check" for Shenzhen listed companies. "Through the list, we find that companies that really invest a lot in innovation tend to have a lot of staying power in terms of sustainability. So this also has a revelation for us, the development of science and technology is the last word. ”

In fact, modern science and technology information technology represented by the Internet, big data, artificial intelligence, robots, etc. is changing with each passing day, and enterprises are competing to invest. Among them, artificial intelligence is considered to be the core driving force of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change. Li Shipeng pointed out that in recent years, companies with a high proportion of artificial intelligence investment tend to have a better development path and a higher acceleration.

According to Li Shipeng, artificial intelligence can be roughly divided into 6 layers: notification, arithmetic, perception, cognition, foreknowledge, and decision-making. At present, the application of artificial intelligence is mainly at the level of perceptual intelligence, including speech recognition, face recognition, image recognition and other applications belong to the perceptual intelligence level.

Although artificial intelligence has been accompanied by voices of doubt since its emergence, Li Shipeng believes that the current application of artificial intelligence at the level of perceptual intelligence is to replace the repetitive and complicated labor of human beings. "Don't think that it is omnipotent, it is to replace repetitive work and greatly improve our production efficiency."

Li Shipeng also revealed that the data processing behind the list has the application of artificial intelligence.

<h2>Develop artificial intelligence: Shenzhen has advantages and needs</h2>

In fact, from concept to research and development, and then to application, the current research on artificial intelligence is constantly breaking through, and the application of artificial intelligence has covered transportation, medical care, education, logistics, manufacturing and other scenarios.

According to Li Shipeng, there are currently two main types of models for the application of artificial intelligence: one is that artificial intelligence technology companies seek the landing of technology, that is, "AI industry"; the other is that traditional industries need artificial intelligence to upgrade, that is, "industry + AI".

Li Shipeng pointed out that the "AI+ industry" can create emerging industries. For example, because of face recognition technology, now we have the application of brush face payment, which was not available before. "But I think 'industry + AI' will bring a bigger boost to our country's industrial manufacturing."

He explained that whether looking at China or Shenzhen, there are still a large number of traditional industries that need to be upgraded and transformed, and artificial intelligence applications need to participate in further improving production efficiency and reducing error rates. But "Shenzhen is particularly well suited to do this." ”

Li Shipeng analyzed two reasons. First, Shenzhen's pillar industries are high-tech industries, mainly concentrated in electronic information, communications, computers, etc., in addition to industrial manufacturing. "This is Shenzhen's strength, but the strength of this type of high-tech industry, upgrading and transformation require artificial intelligence, so there is this demand." Shenzhen has a special soil of 'industry + AI'. ”

According to the statistics of the "Report", in 2010 and 2019, the output value of high-tech products in Shenzhen accounted for a relatively high proportion of electronic and information output value, more than 80%.

In addition, Li Shipeng introduced that in the AI+ industry, the establishment of basic research institutions in Shenzhen for technical research will be more able to adapt to the needs of the industry than other places, "There is no industrial base and industrial ecology like Shenzhen in other places, and there is no way to quickly iterate on the closed loop of the industrial chain." This is The advantage of Shenzhen. ”

Therefore, Li Shipeng believes that in terms of artificial intelligence, Shenzhen can take the lead in many fields, "based on Shenzhen's advantages, many attempts at artificial intelligence applications can be promoted in Shenzhen first, such as artificial intelligence in the city's government affairs, transportation and other aspects." ”

The reporter noted that in 2017, the State Council issued the "New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan", which put forward the "three-step" strategic goal. It is planned that by 2030, the competitiveness of the artificial intelligence industry will reach the international leading level, and the scale of the core industry of artificial intelligence will exceed 1 trillion yuan, and the scale of related industries will exceed 10 trillion yuan.
