Scientists from the United States have found that people's aesthetics depend heavily on people's past personal experiences. In the study, 35,000 netizens rated the faces of 50 different men and women and scored them on attractiveness.
Through a detailed survey of the participants, the researchers concluded that the uniqueness of individual aesthetics is mainly due to their own experiences, not genes. They went on to study 547 pairs of identical twins and 214 pairs of fraternal twins, and on an attractiveness score of 200 different faces, identical twins and fraternal twins showed no significant difference, and even identical twins with nearly 100 percent identical DNA were not attracted to the same people. This is enough to prove that genes are not the determinant of aesthetic differences, and that personal experiences are often more important.
