Born in Canterbury, Ireland in 1968, Hamish Blakely has been interested in art since childhood. He studied illustration at Wimbledon College of Art and studied for a long time at the University of Kingston before becoming a professional illustrator shortly after graduation.

Blakely and his wife Gayle curated a first solo exhibition at the Thomas Keitel Gallery in London's Covent Garden. Titled "Do Not Disturb," the exhibition explores genetic manipulation and its effects on patients through painting.
