Cheng Kaijia, born in 1908. Zu Shang was a well-known silk household in Wujiang County, Jiangsu Province, and he lived in a well-off environment when he was a child. After his family sent him to a private primary school, Xiao Kaijia was extremely playful, and the second grade was repeated for three consecutive years.
Once, Cheng Kaijia took the money and ran to Shanghai to play, spent all the money, slept on the street, and was picked up by his family, and his aunt made him kneel in front of the spiritual tablets of the patriarchs and teach him a lesson with a wooden stick. Later, under the strict discipline of his mother, Cheng Kaijia shifted his mind from greed to learning.
It is also Cheng Kaijia's talent and wisdom, and his studies have been hung up. In 1937, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Zhejiang University simultaneously threw an olive branch at him, and he finally chose Zhejiang University, known as the "Cambridge of the East". One day in 1949, in a movie theater in Scotland, Cheng Kaijia saw a British news movie about the British warship Purple Quartz in the Yangtze River in China, stopping our army from advancing, and also firing at the People's Liberation Army, only to be hit by a cannon from the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
This cannon shot down the hat of the "sick man of East Asia" that had been pinned on the head of the Chinese for a hundred years, and at the same time ended the century-old shame of our country. Cheng Kaijia saw the majestic wind of the People's Liberation Army in the film, grew a vicious breath, and was excited to tears.
This incident touched Cheng Kaijia greatly, and he saw the hope of the motherland's independence and the prosperity and strength of the nation. It has also ignited the spark of serving the country with science and technology. In 1950, he politely refused Professor Born's generous treatment, sincerely retained, and resolutely returned to his battered motherland.
Many years later, when someone asked him why he chose to come back at the most difficult time in China, he replied: I will not wait for others to build the motherland well.
What patriotism? That's it.
Since then, Cheng Kaijia has begun his heroic life.
A lifetime of dedication to serving the country
Looking back on the difficult years of New China, China has been constantly "nuclear threats" by Western countries, which has also led to the disadvantage of China's diplomatic environment. In early 1960, the Soviet Union withdrew all its experts overnight, coldly leaving behind the taunt that "in another twenty years, China will not be able to build an atomic bomb."
In the face of the pile of broken copper and rotten iron they left behind, our country has made up its mind that it must make its own "cannon battle" and create its own "gas bombs."
As Cheng Kaijia wrote in his diary: What is the reason why China is backward and beaten? Technology is lagging behind. What is the prescription for saving China? Science and technology save the country.
In the early days of the founding of New China, the state gave priority to the development of heavy industry, and for the needs of the construction of the motherland, Cheng Kaijia did not hesitate to shift his research direction from theoretical research to applied research;
In 1958, the Department of Physics of Nanjing University decided to establish the Department of Nuclear Physics, and Cheng Kaijia once again obeyed the organizational arrangements and began to explore new fields;
In 1960, Cheng Kaijia was transferred to the China Nuclear Weapons Research Institute, and since then, the name "Cheng Kaijia" has been recorded in the national top secret archives;
In 1961, just as Cheng Kaijia had made great achievements in the theory of the atomic bomb, his superiors once again arranged for him to transfer to a completely new field of research - nuclear test technology. At that time, the investigation of the atomic bomb exploded was the first time in China. No one can say the amount of radiation there, but the degree of danger can be imagined. Due to China's backward conditions and insufficient funds at that time, Cheng Kaijia tried to obtain the most accurate data with the fewest number of nuclear tests.
The stubborn Cheng Kaijia insisted on putting on protective clothing, masks, gloves, and hard hats, and led everyone to crawl in the flat hole that had just been excavated. The flat hole is very narrow, some places are less than 80 centimeters, the radiation in the nuclear explosion center is very strong, the temperature is also very high, after people go in, it is like entering a "sauna".
As the commander-in-chief, Cheng Kaijia can sit in the office and wait for other staff to collect the data. However, he insisted on personally going to the front line to inspect the work. After more than 30 nuclear tests, he would climb into the flat hole at the first time and go to the nuclear explosion center to grasp first-hand information.
For Cheng Kaijia's choice, many people wonder, when he had a bright future in Britain, why did he return to China? He replied: "No matter how much you have achieved abroad, you are also a foreigner." The value of life lies in dedication, dedication to the people, dedication to one's country.
China's "Nuclear Commander"
"Nuclear Commander" is called for two reasons: He was once the deputy commander of China's nuclear test base; he spent his life for China's nuclear cause.
On October 16, 1964, with a loud noise, huge fireballs and mushroom clouds rose over the Desert of the Gobi Desert. The first atomic bomb independently developed by China exploded successfully. This success has disappointed the people around the world who watched the joke, and also made the experts who abandoned us dumbfounded.
This sound shocked the world, established China's position in the world, and China truly gained the right to speak in the world.
Such achievements are not easy to come by!
The nuclear test bases of that era can be said to be extremely difficult.
Known as the "Sea of Death", the nuclear test base in Hongshan, Lop Po Malan, Xinjiang, has a normal temperature of about 40 degrees celsius in summer, drinking water is salty and astringent, and the entire Gobi Desert is deserted and there is no grass. Cheng Kaijia and his colleagues have lived and worked in such an environment for more than 20 years.
For more than 20 years, as the general person in charge of China's nuclear test technology, Cheng Kaijia has successfully presided over and solved more than 30 nuclear tests, including the first atomic bomb, the first hydrogen bomb, the combination of two bombs, as well as ground airdrops, the first underground nuclear test, shaft test, and so on.
In the academic field, he prepared a series of scientific materials from scratch, including explosive mechanics, optics, nuclear physics, electronic technology, radiochemical theory research, protection safety and technical support.
Even in his later years, he accomplished something remarkable: he established a theory of superconductivity. Cheng Kaijia, who has reached his old age, typed out english manuscripts on the computer, asked his daughter to help him proofread, and finally sorted out and published a 200,000-word monograph, giving the last big gift package to mankind.
At the age of 92, Cheng Kaijia won the country's highest science and technology award, and the white-haired man stepped onto the podium and said in a firm tone: "I am 92 years old this year, and I can finally say that I have dedicated my life to the motherland and to the cause of national defense science and technology."
In the award speech of "Moving China", Cheng Kaijia said: The Gobi cold and summer have become a great instrument, thunder in the silent place, and a piece of sincerity. A lifetime of dedication, everything is closely linked to the motherland. Huangsha wore golden armor in a hundred battles, and the light of the armor opened to the golden scales of the sun.
