Mr. Nan Huaijin: How many people can really enjoy leisure at home during a holiday?

I usually say, "If someone can enjoy loneliness and boredom, he is a big husband." For example, the poem of Master Cangxue at the end of the Ming Dynasty: "Nantai sits quietly in a furnace of incense, and all day long it is forgotten." "You think this is just boring for the average person!" All day long, the consciousness condenses, stops in one place, no thought can afford it, how many people in the world can enjoy this great loneliness?

Like you meet and get together all day long now, are you cut off from all kinds of emotions of anger and hatred? Ordinary Confucians also said: "People cannot be idle without character", people with high character cultivation can be idle, so Confucius said: "It is not good for a gentleman to live idle", only when a gentleman is idle, he still feels the fullness of life, and if a villain has nothing to do, he will feel that life is meaningless, bored, you want to seek emptiness every day, really empty, and you are frightened.

Cao Wenyi of the Song Dynasty had a recipe for cultivation: "Idle as long as you cultivate the Yuan God", this "idle" is not easy to talk about, it is the meaning of cutting, but this is only the realm of the sixth consciousness, but how many people have done it? If you really do it, it is not difficult to attain the Hinayana arhat. This thought has been fixed for a long time, that is, the gray body is full of wisdom, and the cultivator has not even reached this point of beginning, so there is no need to talk about the rest.

What is a Buddha? The Zen master replied, "A Buddha is an idle person who has nothing to do. "It's hard, it's not easy to be idle, I see a few of you are very idle, but idle is very troublesome." The ancients said: "People cannot be idle without quality", this product is not a character, it means that if there is no transcendence of the "detachment" realm, it is impossible to idle, and it will be painful to be idle. Confucius said: "It is not good for a villain to live idly", and it is not a good thing for a person to live idly for a long time. So sometimes I will advise some older friends not to retire, to be able to rely on it, and to delay it more. I see that some people have been doing things for decades, and as soon as they retire, they collapse, they start to get sick, they are not in good spirits, and they really retire soon. Why? It is "people cannot be idle unless they have quality".

Let's look at the famous Lu Chunyang at the Guide Palace in Taipei, who has a poem:

A day of leisure and leisure

The six gods and the peace of the union

Dantian has a treasure to find the way

There is no mind to zen in the situation

His poem can also be said to be about cultivation, you see he said "a day of idleness and immortality" is really good, if we can one day not be busy, stay at home, nothing, no trouble, then it is like a god. But once in a while there is nothing to do, rest at home, maybe we can do it; but although we are idle, we are not necessarily at ease: we are at home on vacation, the east is engaged, the west is engaged, the wife and son cry and scold, it is really uncomfortable. "It is not good for a villain to live idle", and it is dangerous to be idle, so it is not simple to be idle.

The second sentence "Six Gods and Peace" is difficult, the body is not sick at all, "The Six Gods and Harmony" is physical, the spirit is strong, then it is not easy to talk about! At this time, "Dantian has a treasure to seek the Tao", Taoists say that refining into Dan will become an immortal, they believe that everyone has a "Dan" inside, that is, the medicine of immortality, but ordinary people can't find it. Now that Lu Chunyang had found it, he had bragged about it. The fourth sentence is related to what we are talking about now, "There is no mind to the realm of Zen", how big is this realm! If one really achieves "no mind for the situation," then one can indeed become a Buddha, and there is no need to participate in Meditation, no need to study Buddhism, no need to cultivate, and one has already reached home.

Mr. Nan Huaijin: How many people can really enjoy leisure at home during a holiday?

Only from the perspective of people's psychological consciousness, if a person sets his mind down, of course, he has a relatively peaceful feeling. Especially people's lives, living in extreme busyness and tension every day, as long as they can get a moment of tranquility, they will feel that it is a great enjoyment. But not necessarily, some people are accustomed to a busy and tense life, once the tranquility comes down, they feel extremely lonely, and even have a sense of sadness. In a crowd society, the proportion of such people is at least more than two-thirds more than that of people who love tranquility.

The poem of Master Cangxue of the Ming Dynasty says: Nantai sits quietly on a pot of incense, and all day long it is contemplative of death. It's not about getting rid of delusions, it's just that there's nothing to think about. In fact, when we have nothing in our minds, our consciousness does not work, and we forget the separate activities of "knowing" in the present moment, as if we are empty and hollow, this is the phenomenon of "mind".

Usually, ordinary people, especially busy people, will encounter this situation in a flash of time. However, when the average person encounters this situation, it will be terrified, and they will suspect that there is a problem with their brain, or the heart has stopped moving. It is inevitable to find trouble for yourself, with a half-understanding of medical common sense, find a doctor, measure blood pressure, check the electrocardiogram, most of them are really sick because of spontaneous panic. In fact, the cause is a psychological illness of my own. If you stay calm in this situation, you will have to take a big rest.

My suggestion, to read the National Academy, you must understand one thing, Zhuge Liang's "Book of Commandments", Zhuge Liang's letter to his son, which is the inscription of readers throughout the ages.

"The gentleman's journey, quiet to cultivate the body, thrift to cultivate morality", he told his son, first learn tranquility, tranquility is not a single finger of meditation when the mind is quiet, but your state of mind should be quiet at any time, desire is alleviated. The second is "frugality", this "frugality" is like saving money frugality, the same meaning, simplification, brain emotions do not mix, everything should be simplified, grasp the main points. Especially in this era, there are so many things, everyone is busy and dizzy, they are desperate, and there are more and more mental problems, so we must study "frugality" and "quietness" well, quietly cultivate ourselves, and cultivate virtue through thriftiness.

"There is no clear ambition without indifference, and there is no distance from tranquility", the truth of learning, first of all, we must learn to dilute our own thoughts and emotions, be willing to be lonely, willing to be indifferent, and be quiet. You have to play every day, too much desire, karaoke, make a boyfriend, make a girlfriend, delay a lot of time. There is no serenity in learning.

"Husbands must be quiet", learning must be quiet. "Only by learning" can only be cultivated by learning. "There is no talent without learning, and there is no way to learn without quietness." Zhuge Liang's letters written throughout his life are a few sentences, very simple, so Zhuge Liang's life has only two big articles, Oh, before and after the "Table of Teachers" that have been circulated throughout the ages. He was of a very high literary standard, writing letters that were simple and concise, sometimes only three sentences, and contained a lot.

"Slow can not be refined, dangerous can not be rational", "slow", arrogant, "regret", they have to be less than enough, a little bit of understanding that it is great, and then arrogant, look down on others, so that it is useless to study, can not study fine, can not go deep. "Dangerous and impatient", the heart is bouncing, the mood is very chaotic, then can not be rational, can not rest. This sentence is about learning.

Then the following is the admonition to the son, "years and times, intentions and years to go", the age of a year and a year to grow, time slipped away, time like a car, running fast and fast. "Intention and age go", our will and thoughts will be lazy and degenerate as we get older, and our courage will be gone. These eight words are very important! He admonished, "If it is withered and withered, and we lament the poverty, we will return to what will happen." He said that if you make this mistake and are lazy for a day, the above admonitions you can't do it, and with the age of the elder, "it will become a withering", and it will always be this degree! Only when you are older do you regret it, "lament the poor", the teenager does not work hard, the old man is sad! There is a fart use ah! "Will return to what time", at that time is too late!

This is a letter from Zhuge Liang to his son, simple and clear, and will apply for a lifetime. Therefore, in Zhuge Liang's life, although you see that although he helped Liu Bei establish a country and become the prime minister, he always said the four words of "indifference and tranquility", which is his academic cultivation. After he died, he is now a man of all ages, and everyone wants to learn from him. His learning came from "tranquility", so intellectuals had to learn from him.
