Today (June 4), the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People's Court released information that, in accordance with the supreme people's court's order to carry out the death penalty, the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People's Court has executed Zhu Xiaodong, an intentional murderer, in accordance with the law.

According to Red Star News, on October 17, 2016, Zhu Xiaodong, a 29-year-old Shanghai man, strangled the neck of his wife Yang Liping in a family dispute, resulting in Yang Liping's mechanical suffocation to death. After killing his wife, Zhu Xiaodong wrapped Yang Liping's body in a red sheet and placed it at the bottom of the freezer at home for 105 days. During the period, Zhu Xiaodong sent messages to relatives and friends through his wife's mobile phone, sent circles of friends, and created the illusion that Yang Liping was still alive to the outside world. Until Yang Liping's father, Yang Ganlian, was 60 years old, Zhu Xiaodong could not hide it, and chose to turn himself in.
Today (4th) afternoon, when it was learned that Zhu Xiaodong had been executed, Yang Ganlian, the father of the victim Yang Liping, told the Red Star News reporter that they had been waiting for this day for a long time, and they would go to their daughter's grave to tell her the news.
The victim, Yang Liping's cousin, also told The Red Star News reporter that from October 17, 2016 to the present, they have been waiting for this day, "all our efforts and persistence are only to see fairness and justice."

Yang Darelian said that for more than three years, they have been circling this case, living in pain every day, and although they are happy to receive this news, they cannot alleviate the pain of losing their daughter. In the next step, they will consult with the lawyer to conduct a civil part of the litigation.
According to information released by the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People's Court, on August 23, 2018, the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People's Court publicly pronounced a verdict in the first instance on the case in accordance with the law, sentencing Zhu Xiaodong to death for intentional homicide and depriving him of his political rights for life. Zhu Xiaodong was not satisfied and appealed.
On July 5, 2019, the Shanghai Higher People's Court held that Zhu Xiaodong had premeditated murder, and for more than three months after killing Yang Liping, he had been hiding Yang Liping's body in the freezer he had purchased at home, during which Zhu Xiaodong used Yang Liping's mobile phone to continuously send WeChat and text messages to Yang's relatives and friends, for a long time to deceive; after killing Yang Liping, when he transferred 45,000 yuan from Yang Liping's Alipay account to his own account, he used Yang Liping's credit card to overdraft more than 100,000 yuan for himself to go to South Korea, Hainan, and others. Traveling and squandering all over Nanjing, he also used Yang Liping's ID card to open a room in the hotel to date the opposite sex. Zhu Xiaodong's behavior reflects that his selfishness and indifference have far exceeded the bottom line of human nature. Although Zhu Xiaodong surrendered himself, he always denied that he had premeditated murder, did not sincerely admit guilt and repent of his crime, and although there were circumstances of voluntary surrender, it was not enough to give him a lenient punishment, so he upheld the original judgment and reported it to the Supreme People's Court for approval in accordance with law. The case was reviewed by the Supreme People's Court and ruled to approve Zhu Xiaodong's death sentence.
Before carrying out the death penalty, the Shanghai Second Intermediate People's Court arranged for convict Zhu Xiaodong to meet with his close relatives in accordance with the law, fully protecting the lawful rights and interests of the executed convict. The procuratorial organs sent personnel to the execution site to supervise.
