Lu Fei, a former performance artist at the North Film Studio, died yesterday at the age of 89.
Lu Fei, born in 1930 in Wuchang City, Heilongjiang, was originally named Zhao Donglu. I grew up wanting to be a soldier. In 1946, at the age of 16, Lu Fei came to Harbin and was admitted to the Northeast Military and Political University. Six months later, he was assigned to work in communications. Lu Fei embarked on the road of literature and art by accident. It was the Spring Festival of 1947, and his unit held a Spring Festival party to call on everyone to show. Because Lu Fei liked to sing, he took the stage to perform, and the leader discovered his talent, so he was arranged to study in the northeast of Qiqihar.
In the Northeast Literary and Labor Troupe, Lu Fei knew many artists. Among them is Wu Suqin, a famous actress from the North Film Studio. Later, Wu Suqin recalled the scene at that time, she said: Lu Fei is tall, looks very thick, walks a little outside the eight characters, giving people a feeling of being very powerful and strong.
I think it is precisely because of this that director Wang Bin thought of Lu Fei when directing the movie "Bridge", and specially handed over the role of the engineering minister in the film to him.
It was 1948, Lu Fei had just turned 18 years old, but he had to play a middle-aged man's role, which was a little nervous for him who had never acted in a movie, but with the help of directors Wang Bin and Chen Qiang and other actors, he still completed the task very well.
"The Bridge" is the first feature film filmed in New China, which has a special significance. Chen Qiang, Yu Yang, Lu Fei, etc., who starred in this movie, can be said to be the earliest batch of film actors in New China.
After the filming of "Bridge", Lu Fei successively played roles in films such as "White Soldier", "People's Warrior", "Red Flag Song", "Glorious People's Family", "Soaring Forward", "Iron Warrior", "On the Way Forward", "Infinite Potential" and so on.
In 1953, the Beijing Film Studio was established, and Lu Fei became a member of the Actors Troupe of the Beijing Film Studio.
In 1954, the Central Academy of Drama planned to set up a training class for performance cadres, and actors from professional academies and troupes across the country could sign up. However, because the enrollment quota is limited, the competition is quite fierce, and the examination is very strict. But Lu Fei was very lucky to become the only actor in the North Film Studio. With Yu Lan, Tian Hua and others, they became classmates.
After graduating from the Central Academy of Drama, Lu Fei was assigned to the Central Experimental Drama Theatre and participated in many plays. In 1959, because of the needs of production, the North Film Studio urgently needed excellent actors, so Lu Fei returned to the North Film Studio and has never left since.
During his tenure as an actor in the Actors Troupe of the North Film Studio, Lu Fei starred in many films and created various roles, including Huang Defa in "The Storm", Chao Mahan in "Colorful Road", Jia Xiangnong in "Red Flag Spectrum", Secretary Guan in "Cultivating Clouds and Sowing Rain", Orderer in "Spring Warm Blossoms", Bai Yushan in "The Tempest", Zhang Jie in "Analhan", Staff Officer Liu in "After the Armistice", Wang Guodong in "Red River Fluxus", su Shirong in "Rolling Waves", etc., all of which left a deep impression on the audience.
