One of Irfan Khan's most famous stars, he became famous for his roles in the Oscar-winning films Slumdog Millionaire and Jurassic.

His family said in a statement on Wednesday: "Irfan is a strong soul who has struggled until the end and has always inspired everyone around him. "We all pray that he will rest in peace."

The actor revealed that he tweeted via Twitter in March 2018 that he had a neuroendocrine tumor. Last week, he was taken to the intensive care unit at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai.

Born on 7 January 1967 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Irfan Khan graduated from the National Academy of Drama of India.

In 1984, Khan won a scholarship when he obtained an M.A. degree at the National Academy of Drama in New Delhi. In 1988, he debuted in the film "Good Morning Mumbai"; in 1994, he became a household name in the comedy series Banegi Apni Baat. In 2003, he participated in the protagonist of the film "Macbeth" adapted from Shakespeare's "Macbeth". In 2007, he participated in the film "Sadness for India and Pakistan" directed by Vic Sarin. In the same year, he starred in "Strong Heart". On November 22, 2012, the 3D movie "The Fantasy Drifting of Young Pi" starring him was released in China.

Over the next two decades, he achieved critical and commercial success in English-language and Bollywood films, including The Self-Titled Album, The Amazing Spider-Man, Jurassic Park, Pan Singh Toma and Hindi.

On Wednesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the actor, who he called the actor's death "a loss to the world of film and television."
