Tween 80 (polyoxyethylene 80 sorbitan monooleate, polysorbitan 80), is a nonionic surfactant, can be used as an emulsifier, dispersant, solubilizer or stabilizer, etc., and is widely used in drugs, food, etc., the content ranges from less than 1% to 12%.
Tween 80 is an amber oily viscous liquid that is semi-gelatinous and odorous at lower temperatures. It is easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ethyl acetate can be mixed with it.
Tween surfactants have good emulsification and dispersibility, and are easily soluble in water, commonly used as oil-in-water (O/W) emulsifiers, widely used as emulsifiers for medicine, mineral oil and cosmetics. Products that meet food requirements can be used as dispersants and emulsifiers for ice cream, pastries, confectionery, and as turbidity agents for refreshing beverages. Used in the fiber industry as a softener, wetting agent, antistatic agent, dyeing aid. It is also used as leather and glass fiber lubricant, lubricating oil additive, foam stabilizer, shampoo viscosity adjuster, photographic emulsion additive, etc.
