Go to Hakuba to buy crabs
Hop on the train from Phnom Penh to Kampot, admiring the scenery of Cambodia's idyllic countryside along the way. After getting out of the car, I chartered a sudden trip to Hakuba to go back and forth, just to buy the freshest crab at the Hakuba Market. Last time I bought 3 kilograms, it only cost 20 US dollars ~ and free processing Oh! It's something I have to do every time I start a trip to Kampot.
Wind blowing and chatting by the Kampot River
Staying in a cottage built by the river costs less than $30. With beer and beloved friend lovers, sit by the river, floating on their feet. Chat, drink, eat crabs, from early morning to dusk, until the stars rise. At sunset, you can meet the local fishing fleet, and each family drives their own fishing boat to the sea. Day after day, without stopping.
Explore the streets of Kampot
Kampot is small and basically complete on foot. And the French-style elaborate architecture is mixed and matched here. Some of the old houses have been painted in new colors, and some have lost their time due to disrepair. Flowers bloom in every corner of the city, abandoning the hustle and bustle, and Kampot has been called a lazy city.
Take a boat ride to see the most beautiful sunsets
In Kampot's street travel agencies or some hotels along the river, you can see some cheap sunset boat trips. The $5 boat fare also comes with a beer. One stop on the way is one of Cambodia's most spectacular butterfly colonies to watch.
Mysterious Bogotá
Join a half-day tour or rent a motorbike to the National Park Bokor Mountains. Depart at 9:00 AM and the tour lasts 5 hours. For $13 per person, the tour is an 8-person tour, with the driver and guide explaining the history of Bokor Mountain and providing a delicious box lunch halfway through.
Bokor Hill was once the seat of King Sihanoukville's summer residence, the French during the French colonial period also built churches and summer huts on the mountain because they could not stand the heat, mixed with the long history of Cambodian Buddhist temples, modern society with different cultural shocks and more graffiti and Chinese zodiac elements.
The whole of Bogotá is like a great park of magic realism. The road up the mountain can be called the best road in Cambodia, many young people or foreigners riding motorcycles on the mountain road, coupled with the cool climate, beautiful scenery, mist in the rainy season, Bogo Mountain is really like a fairyland!
Yoga and SPA in nature
The Banteay Srey Spa located next to the Salt River is my personal recommendation. The biggest feature of this spa is that in addition to the various massage programs that can be seen in the daily spa, there are yoga classes, eyebrow trimming, hair removal, body painting, hair braiding, nail art... And so on for women's services. (There are also men who can participate in yoga classes, which cost only $5 an hour)
The restaurant also offers natural vegetable juices and light meals prepared with organic vegetables. Most importantly, after enjoying the best quality service, you can put on the traditional Cambodian swimsuit and swim down the river, or sit on the bamboo house by the river in a daze and wander in the wrapping of nature...
