Trekking through mountains and wading through water, life rescue does not stop

During the heavy rains in Shanxi, Li Pengfei and his teammates traveled day and night, traveling to the front line of disasters in many places, fighting floods and providing disaster relief, and strictly guarding the defense line of people's lives. Heavy rains hit, the provincial capital Taiyuan bore the brunt of it, and the city was seriously waterlogged. Li Pengfei and his teammates went to the hard-hit area to safely transfer citizens in 1.5 meters of deep water, rescue trapped vehicles, and carry out drainage work.

As the disaster intensifies, the difficulty of the rescue mission increases. On October 5, when the Wuma River broke in Qingxu County, Shanxi Province, Li Pengfei and his teammates rushed to the affected village overnight and worked until the early morning of the next day to complete the task of safely transferring villagers. Li Pengfei recalled: "When we first entered the village, there was not much water, but as the river broke the embankment and poured back, the water level rose rapidly, the water depth reached 30 to 50 centimeters, the vehicles could not pass, and the transfer of personnel could only be carried out in the water. ”

Compared with Qingxu, the situation of the breach of the embankment in the Section of the Xiaoyifen River is more severe, with a total of five breaches, which require a lot of manpower to block.

"When we arrived at the scene, the embankments built in the early stage had all been washed away, and there was a large quagmire in front of us, so we could only build the road first, and then fill and strengthen the embankments."

The work in Xiaoyi has just been carried out for two days, 129 kilometers away in Changzhi Wuxiang County, a remote mountain village due to long-term rainfall landslides, the road washed away severely, the villagers are trapped in it. Li Pengfei and his teammates urgently moved to Wuxiang to rescue the trapped villagers, and he and 30 teammates hiked 12 kilometers, bypassed a 20-meter deep cliff, climbed over the rocks of the road, and went to the village to rescue the trapped.

Since the dispatch to carry out the mission, Li Pengfei and his teammates have not stopped. "Time is not waiting for us, but someone is waiting for us." Li Pengfei is racing against time; he treks through mountains and waters, treks through the collapsed earthen mountains of his hometown, wades through the floods that break the embankments in his hometown, and saves the hopes of the people of his hometown for survival in the midst of disasters. At the next stop, they will go to Yuncheng Jishan, which is seriously waterlogged, to carry out the next round of rescue work.

"To die is to die at home"

In the process of mass evacuation and transfer, Li Pengfei also encountered difficult problems. When the water level had not yet risen, many villagers did not understand the transfer work, their words were fierce, and their attitude was very unfriendly, so Li Pengfei and his teammates knocked on the door door to persuade them. One of them was an 89-year-old man who had just finished surgery and was lying in bed with a breathing tube inserted. When Li Pengfei and his party came to their home to persuade them, the family members had a very resolute attitude, that is, they were unwilling to leave home. In the continuous communication, the old man also seems to gradually understand what is going on, want to speak but can not say, can only helplessly tearfully look at their relatives.

Li Pengfei and his teammates thought that even if they did the ideological work of the family members, it would be very difficult to achieve the transfer. The old man can't leave the snorkel now, but the ventilator is too big and can't move. So they contacted the local village committee and urgently coordinated an ambulance to rush over. The emotions of the family members are still very excited, it may be the pain of the 80-year-old mother, who is so old to suffer such a crime, or it may be worried about an accident in the process of transfer, in case the old man is gone, it is a lifetime of regret.

"We're going to die at home!" When Li Pengfei heard these words, he felt extremely sad in his heart. He repeatedly said that he would ensure the safety of the elderly, and finally after several hours of communication, a special transfer was made to the elderly family at 3 a.m. on the same day.

This situation is not unique, most of the affected villages are 60 or 70 years old left-behind elderly people, the youngest are also in their 40s. They have lived here all their lives and have never left. Here are their fields, their cattle and sheep, their homes... The choice of losing everything in order to save your life is not so easy to do.
