The film grossed $125,304,276 that year, but failed to make it into the top 10 highest grossing films. Jurassic Park: the Lost World followed.

Black Sun Crisis was the third and final film in the series to be released in that era, and the most profitable film— grossing $126,943,684. The film grossed $35519007 in its first weekend and was released in 3,163 theaters. But that wasn't the most popular movie of the year, when Star Wars Prequel I: The Phantom Menace grossed $430,281,928, more than $100 million more than Sixth Sense.
