In the context of increasingly homogeneous product content, the value of user experience design is self-evident. Needless to say, growing into a great UX designer takes time, commitment, and effort. But in fact, regardless of whether the "user experience" can be "designed", since you try to change or affect the user's experience, then such work must involve multiple aspects of the product, both focusing on the macro, but also participating in the pre-planning, design, development, testing and iteration process of the product, but the most important thing is the user.

First, user experience design stems from ergonomics, and in 1995 cognitive psychologist and designer Don Norman coined the term "user experience"; the current home experience is widely concerned. I started with a human-machine interface designer and have been thinking about what is good user experience design at every stage.

Literally, "user" is the goal, "experience design" is the means and method, and the user experience design I understand is that the user is centered, using the expression of the design experience to link the relationship with the user.

So how does the design experience connect users?

For example, a friend from far and near came, first of all, from a distance: gender, dress, height, skin color, etc., which belongs to the visual layer, and then close: voice, personality, body language, etc., which belongs to the interactive layer, and finally concludes: high appearance, pleasant communication, good people, etc., which belongs to the satisfaction layer.

The above basically describes the general design process, "people" refers to products, "from far and near" refers to the design process and thinking angle, and "perception" refers to user satisfaction.

Taking Meitu commercialization as an example, we support the experience support of the three major businesses (advertising, value-added, and finance) of the commercialization, and the workflow is not special, but in the advertising business, because we are responsible for the design of multiple platforms at the same time, in order to unify the design language, we implement a system. A variety of experience design methods, focusing on the construction of the design middle office, strengthening the component library, design documents, and shared resources of the infrastructure, standardizing the tone, while diversifying the design, not departing from the main framework, to ensure the unity and personalization of the design language.

The user experience baseline I understand is that the system framework that ensures a stable user experience is the basis for further experience upgrades.

At present, our design center is used as the top-level design, and the "multi-terminal design/interaction specification, shared resources, and multi-terminal component library" is established as the baseline support to ensure the consistency and efficiency of the basic experience, and the design quality is controlled by the UE/UI review.

In my opinion, there is no standard for good or bad design, and the benevolent see the wise and the wise, and I believe that everyone is working hard. As an excellent user experience industry practitioner, I value the design of the sympathy.

Excellent user experience designer, the work is interesting, playful, honest, in the thinking (design philosophy), skills (basic skills), finishing touch (highlights), tone (personality), rhythm (norms), each point is just right, that is, just the right feeling, worthy of respect.

At present, the general direction of the national strategy is to comprehensively promote The Internet + and create a new trend in the digital economy.

According to the China User Experience Industry Development Report, 93.9% of user experience practitioners are concentrated in 22 industries, of which the top six are: internet, advertising creativity, e-commerce, life services, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence.

The fastest growth of designers is +3.7% for advertising creatives, +3% for digital entertainment, +2.7% for life services, +2.6% for IoT, +2.6% for new energy vehicles, +1.3%for artificial intelligence;

The fastest growing ranking is that ioT this year 4 last 9; artificial intelligence this year 6 last 10;

Designers have the highest satisfaction in advertising creativity and digital entertainment, and the lowest satisfaction in finance, education, and hardware;

My feeling about the above three-dimensional trends is that the influence of user-centered design in the whole industry is gradually expanding, technology-driven influence design experience upgrade, middle office design empowers product ecology, and human-computer interaction diversification, these are all challenges and opportunities.

1. Job composition

At present, user experience positions include interaction design, visual, user research, brand design, industrial design, front-end development, team management, project management and products.

It is recommended to match the corresponding positions based on their own profession, so that theory can be combined with practice and what they have learned can be applied.

2. Employment intentions

Large technology companies are preferred, and have certain advantages in stability (sense of achievement), learning environment (echelon), salary system (fixed salary adjustment), and platform influence (popularity).

3. Recruitment needs

Due to the impact of the epidemic and new technologies in the digital economy, enterprise recruitment has become more rigorous, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises has decreased, and the number of recruits for large enterprises has increased.

4. Competency requirements

The requirements for talents are diversified and integrated, with professional ability as the center, and also value communication and collaboration.

The above 4 points run through the career life cycle of "newcomers, growth, maturity, and decline", focusing on different people, similar to the product life cycle.

For newcomers in the workplace, in the new or growth period, it is better to choose a company with stronger advantages. At present, Meitu's commercial product experience design team advocates: sing while walking, and do what you like with people you like. Originated from Youku Tudou, the predecessor of Alibaba Entertainment, it is also one of my favorite companies in my career. In 2012, I experienced the merger of two listed companies and experienced the importance of corporate culture.

Only with a positive culture can the team have cohesion and direction, and it is more meaningful to build a team.

Specifically:

a. Diversity-inclusive personnel mix

New Internet design has become the mainstream, a single skill is far from enough to meet the current needs, based on artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing business model, driving the development of design.

Combined with the company's business, upgrading the user experience dimension is the general trend, enriching the team configuration, everyone's common ground can produce resonance and bring stability, the difference point can produce creativity to bring breakthroughs, and then you can improve with everyone, just like finding a new home.

For members, partners with common ground have more stickiness and support; partners with differences have more complementarity and expansion.

b. Open communication feedback

Advocate a realistic way of communication, do not carry things alone, do not hold back, communicate with each other in addition to understanding the progress of the project, but also in-depth understanding of the mentality of members and provide ideas for solving problems, enhance trust.

c. Transparent way of collaboration

The silkiness of collaboration affects the results, and the transparent way of collaboration can greatly improve efficiency.

I remember when I first managed the Meitu commercial product design team, the communication mechanism did not know what they were doing, and the department complained seriously.

Adopt the project collaboration platform, take the profit center as the level, synchronize the project, version, design/UE/restore, and other information to the platform, all members can see; Through the gantt chart of the project collaboration platform, you can see everyone's progress in the timeline, managers can arrange their work reasonably, and members can clearly understand their goals and efficiency at a glance.

External collaboration

Using the project management platform, all requirements are created by the product, detailed description and supplementary requirements content, unified allocation to me, unified allocation of members by me.

d. Echelon-type organizational structure

Establish a team with the main/auxiliary roles to complete the project together;

Establish a mentorship system to help and assist newcomers;

Establish a design committee, promote and standardize review;

In foreign countries, many excellent companies are driven by design, while domestic designers generally do not have a high voice. This phenomenon is widespread, and the core reason is that it does not directly generate business value. The status quo is that the user experience is only to solve the appearance problem or a single problem, the design organizational structure is not independent, the project schedule is tight, the priority is to compress the design schedule, do not participate in the discussion of product technical requirements, can not be precipitated, and at the same time, the career ceiling is not high, and the right to speak over time is not high.

Although the current domestic advocacy of "technology-driven value creation", especially the rise of artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing has a greater impact on business value, it has also promoted the development of design.

From a development perspective, designers should be upgraded to product designers, and can work towards the following points:

Designers need to work together to reverse their thinking and broaden the scope of product design (with multi-role capabilities);

Strengthen the depth of integration of brand design and business (integration of product positioning and brand design);

Upgrade designer positioning and standards (full-link deep engagement products);

Encourage multiculturalism and creative differentiation (breaking through designs that look good);

Hold a professional design industry summit (evangelize cutting-edge design concepts and enhance the influence of the whole industry) to do better together.

Design is the only thing that keeps me going, it fills me with strength, and I want to work harder to do it well. At the beginning of the industry, there was no experience, and at that time, the information was not developed, and it basically relied on groping to move forward.

Phase I

Mainly ability precipitation, in order to enhance the long board, to ensure the quality of their own design at the same time, focus on icon design, image IP design, design methodology, works are often recommended on the home page of the design platform, image IP applied for national copyright, methodology began to combine project practice, the effect is significantly full of a sense of achievement, growing rapidly.

Phase II

Starting from Youku Tudou, it began to integrate into the management role, and the management and design energy accounted for half of it, and it was very busy, focusing on the balance between work efficiency, time management, and personnel management.

At this stage

Focus on the management of fine operations, the maximum team has about 70 people, covering design, interaction, research, customer experience, brand, operation design; thinking about how user experience design balances with commercial products, while "Chinese Academy of Sciences Artificial Intelligence Psychology Major" on-the-job graduate school, for the design of the thinking broadened the dimension.

Self-growth and improvement is not more powerful than who is at this moment, but whose breath is longer.
