La Liga giants FC Barcelona have had a lackluster start to the season and are now under the leadership of head coach Ronald Koeman, who have fallen out of the top four of the La Liga table. In the first round of the UEFA Champions League group stage, when Barcelona lost 3-0 to old rivals Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, Barcelona fans and Spanish football commentators complained about Koeman, and in the recent fifth round of La Liga, Barcelona was forced to draw 1-1 by Granada, which put Koeman on the cusp of the storm, and the clamor for Koeman to be dismissed by fans and football commentators was getting louder and louder.
Barcelona appear to be looking for a successor to Ronald Koeman – they are said to be desperate to return to Camp Nou. Spanish media "El País" reported that Barcelona president Laporta is willing to do everything he can to get Spain coach Josep Guardiola, who is coaching Manchester City F.C. in the Premier League, to return to FC Barcelona, and Barcelona hopes that Pep Guardiola can lead them back to the top of club football. Barcelona are preparing to make an offer to Manchester City for Guardiola.
Josép Guardiola played for the Tyrona giants from 1984 to 2001, where he coached Barcelona from 2008 to 2012 and helped Barcelona win 3 La Liga titles, 5 domestic cups and 2 Champions League titles during his time in charge. Guardiola joined Manchester City in 2016, he helped City win multiple trophies, and he recently said he would leave Manchester City if City fans no longer liked him, and Guardiola's contract with Manchester City will last until 2023.
Barcelona have not won the Champions League since the 2014/2015 season and have failed to win La Liga in the past two seasons, but in April Coman led Barcelona to the Copa del Rey. Asked earlier about his links to the Spanish club, Guardiola said: "I have a two-year contract at Manchester City and I am delighted and will continue to stay here. When he heard that Koeman would remain at Barcelona, he added: "It is good news that Koeman will continue to coach Barcelona. A lot of times, a second season in charge of Barcelona is usually better.
