According to British media reports on January 28, a British couple spent 14 days in a hotel in Australia for 14 days of medical isolation observation, and they shared their isolation life and experience on social networks, which triggered a heated discussion.
To this day, visitors arriving in Australia from 20 countries are required to quarantine for 10 days near the airport, at their own expense, which is about 1,500 pounds (about 13,000 yuan). A similar quarantine policy is already being implemented jointly in Singapore and Norway.
British travel bloggers Alex and James showed the media their 14 days of quarantine observation at sydney's Intercontinental Hotel. Two adults sharing a 20-square-meter room cost a total of £2,200 (about 19,500 yuan).
The travelling couple, who had lived in Australia for six years, were escorted from the airport to the hotel without any choice of hotel and room type, and they didn't even have a window to open. In fact, travellers returning to the UK are not able to choose between hotels and room types.
Alex, 31, and James, 32, have 72,000 followers on Instagram and 3,100 on Youtube. The two recounted that the daily supply of cold meals basically consisted of sandwiches and salads wrapped in paper packaging, which would be kept outside the room.
The meal was basically served by two friends, who delivered the meal to the hotel front desk and then to the door of the two people's rooms by the hotel staff wearing masks. The two are also not allowed to order takeout from local restaurants.
The two also showed how the hotel offered two people a week to change their bedding without housekeeping services, and how the two were self-sufficient to clean the room. The couple also had to hand-wash their belongings in the bathtub and pack their household garbage outside the door.
During their isolation, two nucleic acid tests will be scheduled, once on day 2 of isolation and once on day 10 of isolation. Every day, nurses call them to check their physical condition. In this way, the isolation life of the two people was recorded with images and discussed by more people.
