Huangqiao is an ancient town and famous town in Taixing County, Jiangsu Province, known as "Yongfengli" in ancient times, also known as "Black Pine Forest". The area around Yaowang Village in the south of the town is the former site of Jin Jianxing County, and the ruins of the ancient city wall can still be found.
According to historical records: In the first year of the reign of Emperor Zhongzong of the Southern Tang Dynasty (937), Taiping Township was established after Taijian County, and Yongfengli belonged to Taiping Township. During the Northern Song Dynasty (1068-1077), Yongfengli was elevated to Yongfeng Town (according to Qianlong's Forty Years of Reconstruction of the City God Temple).
At the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, Yongfeng Town had a certain scale. "Baichuan Huitong, Minli Irrigation, Soil Fields, Fertile Soil, Abundant Products", is a large town in Taixing County. According to legend, there was a wooden bridge built on the Yangliu River in the west of the town in ancient times (it was rebuilt as a stone bridge in the 48th year of qing Guangxu, which is still intact), and the water under the bridge is yellow all year round, so it is named Yellow Bridge, and there are shops at the end of the bridge, so this place is commonly known as Yellow Bridge Shop. In the Ming Dynasty, Yongfeng Town was officially renamed Huangqiao Town (Ming History-Geography).

In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), Chen Yi and Su Yu led the New Fourth Army to the east into Huangqiao and established the New Fourth Army's Northern Jiangsu Headquarters. He commanded the decisive battle of Huangqiao, which was famous at the epicenter of the earthquake, and opened up the anti-Japanese base area in northern Jiangsu with Huangqiao as the center.
At that time, the fierce battle of the Yellow Bridge was in full swing, and the officers and men of the New Fourth Army insisted on fighting day and night, sometimes not eating a hot meal for several days. The people of Huangqiao looked at it in their eyes and were anxious in their hearts. They used local specialties to comfort the New Fourth Army. At that time, there were 12 plates of mills and 60 baking ovens in Huangqiao Town, and they rushed to make baked cakes day and night.
Huangqiao Town has a long history and has become a county magistrate many times in history. From the first year of Emperor Taikang of the Jin Dynasty (280) to the fourth year of Emperor Wude of Tang Gaozu (621), Jianxing County was established twice, and the county administration was in Yaowang Village, Huangqiao Town.
In September 1945, the Anti-Japanese Base Area of Central Jiangsu was also analyzed in Huangqiao Town, Taixing County, and the first mayor of Huangqiao City was Luan Changming. In 1946, Huangqiao City was abolished and merged into Taixing County.
On November 29, 1957, the 63rd Plenary Session of the State Council approved the report of Jiangsu Province on the application for the establishment of four new counties: Guannan, Tongru, Shazhou and Huangqiao. In March 1958, Guannan County was officially established. However, the preparatory progress of Huangqiao County was slow, catching up with the current events of the second half of 1958 when the correction of exaggerations and the economy of financial expenditures were saved, and a large number of small counties in the country were merged. In October, the State Council officially notified Huangqiao County that it would not be established for the time being. Then, there is no then!
