At first glance: the ink color is bright, the overall work exudes a peaceful and upright atmosphere, and there is a sense of vicissitudes and a strong taste of gold and stone. Look closely, with the pen old spicy, the lines are vigorous, it is really through the back of the paper, and the combination of dry and wet, virtual reality is born, old-fashioned! I don't know if "people are old" is talking about this feeling. I can't say it, only that this must be a real work of everyone who has studied the "stele", and when I see the drop, I almost drop my jaw: Hou Kaijia!
I quickly sent the picture to my friend Mr. Zou Wenran, who is also my calligraphy teacher and my daughter, and said to come and see the works of Teacher Hou Kaijia. Soon he replied by voice and asked me to talk about my feelings first. I knew in my heart that this was the teacher's question, so I told the above feelings truthfully. Teacher Zou first encouraged me to say that the vision was still a little bit. Then he said that Teacher Hou's profound skills can be seen in this work, but it is slightly too plain.
I have seen Teacher Hou's works, it is on his book, it is photocopied, such a clear work photo has never been seen. There are many inscriptions of various types of "celebrities" in Chengdu, but he has never seen the inscriptions of the real people in my heart. Mr. Wen Ran said that it is best to look at the original work, how can this opportunity be missed! So I went to my friend's office and opened the door: "Can you let me see the original work of Teacher Hou?" "My friend was very happy to give me a full eye. However, I feel that this is more layered, and there is a feeling of Wang Duo's "rising ink".

This is the first time that I have seen the works of a calligraphy master in my heart so closely and unobstructed, and I have seen the works of Teacher Chen Zhenlian in Hangzhou's West Lake in 17 years, but they are separated by glass.
Teacher Hou is a contemporary calligrapher, and I know it from Mr. Zou Wenran.

Later, I learned that Professor Hou Kaijia and Professor Chen Zhenlian of Zhejiang University had served as the jury member of the Chinese Calligraphy Lanting Award at the same time, and Professor Chen was Mr. Wenran's tutor at Zhejiang University, so I think he must have known Mr. Hou before he came to Sichuan. Among Mr. Hou's many honors and titles, I remember "the pioneer of Sichuan University's calligraphy profession". Of course, the easiest thing for everyone to remember is that he is the inscriptionist of famous wine labels such as Wuliangye.

Then I bought two books by Teacher Hou, "Collected Essays on Hou Kaijia Calligraphy" and "New Treatise on the History of Chinese Calligraphy". Attached to the collection of essays are some of Mr. Hou's early works, which are a book from the 80s, not very well printed, and can only be read roughly. However, he also admired Mr. Hou's profound theoretical foundation and superb creative level, and also admired his pioneering spirit of daring to question and dare to innovate.

After reading Teacher Hou's writings and reading his students' articles, Teacher Fang Zhihou was a loving and generous elder. Those articles recorded many stories of Teacher Hou who loved and cherished talents, and helped students learn, create, and work. In particular, the text mentions that Professor Lu Jinguang of the current Sichuan University, when he was admitted to graduate school, was transferred from other schools to Sichuan University, and his peers from other schools even wanted to stop Teacher Hou after they knew about it, saying that we don't want it, you don't want it. However, Teacher Hou recognized Lu Jinguang's level and ability at that time and resolutely accepted it. And now, I don't know if the following introduction to Professor Lü can become a strong proof of Hou Lao's insight and talent: "Lü Jinguang, Ph.D. of Sichuan University." He is currently the director of the Institute of Calligraphy of Sichuan University, a professor, and a doctoral supervisor. Of course, hopes were ultimately dashed. Unexpectedly, today I unexpectedly saw Hou Lao's real handiwork, which was really lucky.
I was a little curious about where my friend could get the inscription of Hou Lao. I have always wondered: people like Hou Lao actually saw his inscription in the streets and attractions of Chengdu. I think he is by no means a gentleman who can write an inscription with money. Friends laugh but don't answer.
Looking at the content of his inscription: "Golden Needle Degree People", I know that this is derived from the Yuan Dynasty poet Yuan Haoqing's poem "Don't use the Golden Needle Degree and People". The original poem is about a highly skilled embroidery lady who will only show people the exquisite works of embroidery, but will not pass on her skills to others. My friend is also engaged in education, a sense of education (although this year is no longer popular "feelings"), and then think of Hou Kaijia teacher's life as a book, a person, a teacher, these words seem to be particularly suitable - in this way, his old man's happy life seems to be a natural thing.
