With the predecessor of the former residence and the Garden of the Qing Dynasty Palace as the core, and the Begonia as the main line, the novel tells the story of the five masters of the Qing Dynasty who lived in the garden, reflecting the rise and fall of the National Fortune of the Qing Dynasty through their ups and downs in life. The Haoliang Fun Hall, where the symposium is located, is also the main image in the novel.
The creation of "Begonia Sunset" began three years ago, that is, the spring of the year When He Jiashu was 14 years old. Because he participated in the Jingshan School Historical Theme Novel Competition, He Jiashu thought of participating in the activities of Mr. Shi Xiao in song Qingling's former residence and volunteered to explain the experience of the past two years. At the event site, He Jiashu said, "I think that the process of being Mr. Xiao is more like a process of constantly learning from others, in fact, it is also expanding their knowledge and improving their communication and understanding." ”

Located in the northern edge of Houhai, the former residence of Song Qingling once lived many famous historical figures in the Qing Dynasty. During the Kangxi Dynasty, it was the residence of the Wuyingdian University Ofsnalan Mingzhu, where the famous poet Nalan Sex de lived; during the Qianlong period, it was the residence of the military chancellor and The Emperor; during the Jiaqing period, it was the royal residence of Prince Yongxuan of Cheng; during the Guangxu period, it was the royal residence of the Guangxu Emperor's biological father, Prince Yizhen of Alcohol; after the death of Prince Shuo, his son Zaifeng became the new generation of Princes of Alcohol, who was the father of Xuantong, the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and the last ruler of the Qing Dynasty. The eras in which they lived were strung together represented the process of the Qing Dynasty's transformation from prosperity to decline. In He Jiashu's view, their story is the epitome of the national fortunes of the Qing Dynasty.

Isn't the author's complex appearance of 'begonia' from prosperity to decline a symbol full of meaning? Chen Jiangong believes that the many aspects of culture involved in the book, such as officialdom, etiquette, architecture, clothing, calligraphy and painting, literature, etc., said: "It shows the author's pursuit and accumulation of the realm of 'omnipresent peeping' and shows a good start as a historical novelist." ”

At the forum, Zhang Jianjing, deputy editor-in-chief of the China Literature and History Publishing House, said that "Sunset on The Begonia" is a story of the royal palace, but it is not based on the court plot, but has carried out aesthetic treatment and warm treatment of every day of daily life.
Zhang Jianjing noticed that in the history of literature, juvenile authors are not a common phenomenon, "one of our most well-known juvenile authors is Du Fu. Take off the young generation, make friends with the old. In this regard, Zhang Jianjing hopes that more young authors will pay attention to history, and at the same time, "Sunset on Begonias" is not an end, but a starting point. As a work of high school students, "Begonia Sunset" may carry the limitations of teenagers' cognition of history and the world, but it also reflects the vision and talents of a new generation of Chinese teenagers, reflecting their staged growth of facing history and reality and constantly exploring and seeking knowledge.
Naranjande is the first character to appear in "Begonia Sunset", and in many film and television and literary works, he is portrayed as a talented but sentimental literati, but in He Jiashu's eyes, Naranjande is a "somewhat tangled melancholy literary young man". This entanglement manifests itself in whether he is loyal to the king or lives his own life. He Jiashu said that in the book, he described that Naran Zhide followed Kangxi on his southern tour and had a conversation with the Kangxi Emperor, including that after that, Naran Zhide had been struggling with what kind of person he was, a bodyguard. Or is it just the son of the Pearl of Naran? This sense of identity for himself has kept him in a state of entanglement, in a state of constant tearing, which has become one of the reasons for his later untimely death.
