Wang Guangqi was born in 1892 in Xiaohe Village, Yujiao Town, Wenjiang County, Sichuan Province, and entered the famous Higher School (now Shishi Middle School) in Chengdu in 1908. In June 1918, Wang Guangqi organized and launched the "Young Chinese Society".
