"Let us keep our hearts close and look at the same sky. From meeting to parting, there are still times, the thoughts that cross time and space are so intense, there is no night that will not end, there is no love that cannot be transmitted, just like we sing the praises of spring, let us strive to meet tomorrow..." In 1981, Shinji Tanimura came to China for the first time and sang at the Sino-Japanese Concert at the Beijing Workers' Gymnasium. He recalled, "Mr. Deng Xiaoping was sitting on the rostrum. Usually the leaders leave the show early, but Mr. Deng Xiaoping watched it for two hours until the end of the show. At the welcome banquet in the evening, I sat next to Mr. Deng Xiaoping. It is said that it was the first time that a foreign singer had performed popular music on a guitar in China, when the audience was sitting in a precarious position, but Mr. Deng Xiaoping was able to take the lead in applauding according to the rhythm and atmosphere of the music. ”
Shinji Tanimura has an indissoluble relationship with Shanghai. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship in 2018, he met with thousands of fans at the Shanghai Grand Theatre with the "38 Years of Stars" concert. The show sold out two weeks after the show was ticketed, and the Grand Theatre added additional seats.
Shinji Tanimura has had countless household-name classic songs, the most familiar of which is his inspirational song "Star". "When you close your eyes, there is a vast grassland on the horizon, and the yellow grass sways with the wind, forming a magnificent scene with the starry sky in the sky. At the time I didn't realize which country it belonged to, I just thought it was a landscape. But in hindsight, I thought that perhaps such a landscape was only available in China. When sharing the creation process of his masterpiece "Star", Shinji Tanimura said, "Every time I perform in China, I must sing this song, and every time the prelude is just beginning, everyone will applaud me." The song is very similar to red wine, which has a very strong feeling when it is first poured out, and over time, the taste becomes more mellow, and the song is the same. At the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Shinji Tanimura served as the Ambassador for the Promotion of Japan at the Shanghai World Expo, singing "Star" at the opening ceremony, bringing infinite emotions to the audience and the world.
