The Japanese musician sent new songs to Shanghai to fight the "epidemic", and Deng Xiaoping took the lead in applauding when he performed 39 years ago

"Music knows no borders and connects everyone's hearts. I hope to use music to get through this with everyone. On March 26, Shinji Tanimura, a well-known Japanese musician, sent to the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries his new song "The Flower of the Heart" for the global fight against the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

"Let us keep our hearts close and look at the same sky. From meeting to parting, there are still times, the thoughts that cross time and space are so intense, there is no night that will not end, there is no love that cannot be transmitted, just like we sing the praises of spring, let us strive to meet tomorrow..." In "The Legend of the Flower of hearts", Shinji Tanimura depicts the beauty of the spring flowers dancing with the wind, and people are connected under the same sky and look forward to the future.

In 1981, Shinji Tanimura came to China for the first time and sang at the Sino-Japanese Concert at the Beijing Workers' Gymnasium. He recalled, "Mr. Deng Xiaoping was sitting on the rostrum. Usually the leaders leave the show early, but Mr. Deng Xiaoping watched it for two hours until the end of the show. At the welcome banquet in the evening, I sat next to Mr. Deng Xiaoping. It is said that it was the first time that a foreign singer had performed popular music on a guitar in China, when the audience was sitting in a precarious position, but Mr. Deng Xiaoping was able to take the lead in applauding according to the rhythm and atmosphere of the music. ”

Shinji Tanimura has an indissoluble relationship with Shanghai. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship in 2018, he met with thousands of fans at the Shanghai Grand Theatre with the "38 Years of Stars" concert. The show sold out two weeks after the show was ticketed, and the Grand Theatre added additional seats.

Shinji Tanimura has had countless household-name classic songs, the most familiar of which is his inspirational song "Star". "When you close your eyes, there is a vast grassland on the horizon, and the yellow grass sways with the wind, forming a magnificent scene with the starry sky in the sky. At the time I didn't realize which country it belonged to, I just thought it was a landscape. But in hindsight, I thought that perhaps such a landscape was only available in China. When sharing the creation process of his masterpiece "Star", Shinji Tanimura said, "Every time I perform in China, I must sing this song, and every time the prelude is just beginning, everyone will applaud me." The song is very similar to red wine, which has a very strong feeling when it is first poured out, and over time, the taste becomes more mellow, and the song is the same. At the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Shinji Tanimura served as the Ambassador for the Promotion of Japan at the Shanghai World Expo, singing "Star" at the opening ceremony, bringing infinite emotions to the audience and the world.

What is less well known is that the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo coincided with Shinji Tanimura's domestic tour in Japan, "the day after he received the invitation, he told me to readjust my itinerary and make sure to come to Shanghai." Every time he performs, he rehearses the stage in advance, and every time he goes on the stage, he directly opens his mouth to sing, absolutely not perfunctory, and does not rush because of familiarity. In the eyes of director Teng Junjie, Shinji Tanimura is a rigorous artist, "his cognition and emotion of China and Shanghai have always touched me." In 2007, Teng Junjie directed the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Arts Festival, and when he encountered a typhoon, Shinji Tanimura also overcame many difficulties and took a detour to participate, "He is a standard singer, insists on himself, and has not changed because of the trend." Many Chinese singers such as Teresa Teng, Zhang Guorong, Jacky Cheung, etc. have covered his songs. His Shanghai concert was full of people, and even the audience on the second floor and the third floor sang along with it. ”

In 2004, Shinji Tanimura was invited to serve as a permanent professor of the Department of Music Engineering and a consultant of the Sino-Japanese Music Culture Research Center at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and jointly established the "Nishiu Tanimura Music Studio" with the newly established Music Engineering Department of the College to teach a series of knowledge about the creation, performance, packaging and promotion of the pop music industry. At the acceptance ceremony, he said: "I have a wish, that is, to convey what I know to the young people of China, and to contribute my modest efforts to cultivate international musical talents in China." Shinji Tanimura took a class at Shangyin for the first time, "The students prepared a welcome party for me, and the classmate who sang was Chang Shilei." I was amazed that Shanghai has such a talented young singer. After decades in the music scene, Shinji Tanimura is very good at teaching, "Because it is a university course, I will emphasize the knowledge of classical music and historical theory. I also want to tap into everyone's personality, so I ask everyone to write lyrics, compose music, arrange music, go on stage, and build their musical talents. ”
