Once, Han Xianchu, then commander of the Fuzhou Military Region, in order to protect the four veteran generals, even got angry and asked: "Comrades are in difficulty, afraid of taking responsibility, can they help or not, pretend not to see, is that still called someone?"
So who were the four veterans who were protected by Han Xianchu at that time? Why did Han Xianchu make such a big fire? It starts at the beginning.
One day in the autumn of 1969, a military farm in Gao'an County, Jiangxi Province, welcomed four special "guests," who were said to be special because they were not ordinary people, but founding generals who had made great contributions to the republic, namely: founding general Chen Zaidao, founding lieutenant general Zhong Hanhua, founding general Li Zhimin, and founding major general Jin Zhongfan.

In the political atmosphere at that time, although many people sympathized with the suffering of these four veterans, few people dared to reach out to help because they were afraid of responsibility, but Han Xianchu resisted the pressure and ventured forward, immediately sent people to visit the four veterans, and asked the farm to improve the living conditions for the veterans.
Soon after, in order to better protect the four veterans, Han Xianchu made another decision to take the four veterans to Fuzhou. However, as soon as this decision was made, it was met with "opposition" voices. Someone kindly reminded: "Two years ago, you forgot the situation of "beating a handful of people in the army"? Although the limelight has passed now, isn't it obvious that you, "Han Zaidao," have brought Chen Zaidao here and mixed it up?"
Objectively speaking, under the situation at that time, this opposition voice was also out of good intentions, but also for the good of Han Xianchu. However, The fierce-tempered Han Xianchu said angrily:
What you say makes sense, but it can't last because it's not the truth. When I was a child, I heard people talk about "Water Margin", and the good man of Liangshan was so moralistic that he did not hesitate to insert a knife in both ribs for his friend. We Communists don't talk about the righteousness of our brothers, but can we not talk about feelings? Comrades have difficulties, afraid of taking responsibility, can not help, pretend not to see, that is still called people?......"
These words were full of anger, but the words were heavy, including the comradeship of the fallen veterans, and also showed the noble quality of the general's iron bones.
Han Xianchu said and did the same. However, as for how to help the four veterans, Han Xianchu did not act recklessly, but used his brain and came up with a clever solution: in the name of examining the body, he took the four veterans to Fuzhou.
Subsequently, Han Xianchu called Premier Zhou again to ask for instructions: "Premier, Chen Zaidao, Li Zhimin, Zhong Hanhua, and Jin Zhongfan are working on farms in Jiangxi, and they are old and in poor health.
As soon as he received Han Xianchu's phone call, the premier immediately understood the deep meaning and said in his heart: Check the body? It's okay to check your body. ”
After receiving this instruction from the premier, Han Xianchu immediately dispatched a military plane to bring Chen Zaidao, Li Zhimin, Zhong Hanhua, and Jin Zhongfan to Fuzhou.

In 1973, under Chairman Mao's decision, the commanders of the eight major military regions of the country were transferred to each other, and Han Xianchu left the Fuzhou Military Region and went to the Lanzhou Military Region to serve as commander.
