There is a story in the former residence of Shi Liangcai

author:Xinmin Evening News

The former "Taihetang Pharmacy" in Sijing Town, a subordinate of Songjiang Province, was a pharmacy opened by Shi Jiaxiu's father and Pang Pinsan (Shi Liangcai's adult father-in-law). When he was 7 years old, his mother died after giving birth, and after being taken by his grandmother to raise him for two or three years, he moved with his father to Sijing Town. He studied under Dai Kuichen, a master of the town school, and made great progress in his studies. In 1899, he was awarded the "First Class Student of Eight Studies" and was specially commended for the examination of boys in Lou County, Songjiang Province. However, tongsheng in the town accused him of being a jiangning impersonator and was demoted to an appendage. Frustrated by this, Shi Liangcai resolutely abandoned his career and formed a Western learning group with young friends in Songjiang and Sijing to teach himself physics and chemistry and Japanese. In 1901, he was admitted to the new school of that time- "Hangzhou Silkworm Academy". The new style of school inspired him in the educational method of revitalizing the national economy and applying what he had learned. Sijing is a land of fish and rice, especially a rice distribution center, and it is necessary to immediately take advantage of the first winter vacation to return to his hometown to establish a "rice industry school". With the strong support of the Town Rice Industry Association and the shishen Ma Xiangbo, a new type of "Rice Industry Yangzheng Primary School" was quickly and successfully opened, which cultivated successive rice merchants with cultural knowledge for the town, which was of great help to the development of the rice industry in Sijing.

There is a story in the former residence of Shi Liangcai

In 1924, Shi Liangcai's career was in full swing, and he was persuaded by friends to build the "Shi Mansion" at No. 9 Hartung Road (now No. 257 Tongren Road). Immediately, he gave his brother 20,000 yuan, bought 200 acres of land, and built this small and exquisite building, which is now the "Former Residence of Shi Liangcai" at No. 85 Jiangda North Road in the town.

Shi Liangcai's father died in 1921, and only his brother Shi Jiazhen stayed behind to inherit his father's business. Legend has it that this brother was not his own child, but was brought by his father in Sijing, and it is said that his father had illegitimate children with a widow. But, brothers love as much as they do. According to Shi Jiazhen's granddaughter, at that time, in order to build this building, Grandpa spent a lot of effort, choosing addresses everywhere, looking for someone to design, and inspecting and supervising at the "construction site" day and night. After the Shi Mansion was built, Shi Liang took all the children of the family to the Shanghai Shi Mansion, trained his nephews and nieces to study, and arranged for them to work in the bank after graduation. This makes the elder brother, who loves his brother deeply, feel even more glorious and feel overwhelmed. When laying the foundation, a small granite stone was embedded in the foundation of the lower corner of the wall, and the distinctive name of the original sister-in-law was engraved: "Pang Mingde".

At that time, Shi Liangcai already had a wife and two concubines, and the original Pang Mingde was unanimously recognized inside and outside the goodness and generosity. She gave up her husband and only son to Shen Qiushui and retreated to the second line herself. Outsiders and relatives are unfair to her. Shi Jiazhen often took her to Sijing to live for some time, and spent the happy days of love with her brother and sister-in-law.

After 1949, the empty "Sijing Shijia Old House" was used as the office office of Songjiang County, and after that, the county (district) office building was built and moved to Songjiang. This building serves as the office of Sijing Town Government. Soon, Sijing Town built a spacious new office building, and the former residence became the town library.

In 2000, the 120th anniversary of Shi Liangcai's birth, how to commemorate this great countryman, the great news king? The town government decided to renovate the town library and change it to "Shi Liangcai's Former Residence".

The Songjiang District Government sent Zhang Rugao, director of the Propaganda Department of the District CPC Committee, to be the commander-in-chief, and leaders of the District Radio, Film, Film, and Television Bureau, cultural bureau, and other relevant bureaus were all present to give advice and suggestions. Wang Weilao, who is highly respected in the press, and Ma Guangren, editor-in-chief of the "History of Shanghai Journalism," also visited Sijing to inspect the repair site. It is incumbent upon me to select 200 pictures of Shi Gong's life and achievements for exhibition. The gate of the old house was inscribed by Xia Zhengnonglao (deceased), the former secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, for the "Former Residence of Shi Liangcai".

On November 17, 2000, on the site in front of the "Shi Liangcai's Former Residence", the ceremony was held under the big red banner of "Shi Liangcai's Former Residence Renovation and Inauguration Ceremony". All the members and journalists in attendance watched the exhibition carefully. The news report was broadcast that night, and the impact was not small. (Pang Rongdi)
