"The red plum blossoms bloom and the blossoms shine... Wake up the blossoming of a hundred flowers, sing and celebrate the new spring!" Whenever the familiar melody of "Red Meizan" sounds, people can't help but think of the protagonist of this song, Jiang Zhujun (Jiang Jie).
In order to Chinese people's liberation cause, Jiang Zhujun was tortured and sacrificed his young life. In the suicide note she left before her death, she put forward ardent expectations for her son Peng Yun, hoping that he could follow in the footsteps of his parents, continue to fight for the cause of communism, and complete the desire to build a new China.
Now that New China has been founded for more than 70 years, Peng Yun lives in the United States, while his grandson Peng Zhuangzhuang resolutely returned to China to serve after graduating from Harvard and became the successor of his grandmother.
What happened to the family? What was Peng Zhuangzhuang's situation after returning to China? Let's take a look at the story of Peng Zhuangzhuang, a descendant of the revolution.

In 1948, her husband Peng Yongwu organized a failed riot and unfortunately died. Jiang Zhujun, who has been engaged in revolutionary work for many years, knows that she may be exposed at any time and her life will be in danger, so she entrusted her son Peng Yun to Peng Yongwu's ex-wife Tan Zhenglun (sister) in advance.
Soon after, Jiang Zhujun was arrested for betrayal by traitors and imprisoned in Chongqing's Zhadidong Prison. In order to learn the information of the underground party from her mouth, the enemy tortured her, and Jiang Zhujun endured torture such as tiger stools and bamboo sticks, but she was always unyielding and did not betray party secrets and comrades' information.
Jiang Zhujun had a premonition that she was fierce and unlucky, and she was worried about her son in her heart. Therefore, in the prison, he secretly wrote a "Letter to orphans", and entrusted a guard to send it to Tan Zhu'an, the younger brother of his sister.

In the letter, she once again asked Tan Zhu'an to take care of Peng Yun, and hoped that Peng Yun could inherit his parents' revolutionary legacy and fight for the cause of communism to the end. The letter was full of yearning for the success of the revolution and a deep affection for his son.
On November 14, 1949, on the eve of the liberation of Chongqing, Jiang Zhujun was killed by a frenzied enemy at the Gele Mountain Execution Ground at the age of 29. Tan Zhenglun was worried that the enemy would cut the grass and remove the roots, so he worried about it every day and took Peng Yundong to hide in Tibet. It was hard to survive until liberation, but waited for the bad news that Jiang Zhujun had already sacrificed heroically.
Tan Zhenglun and Peng Yongwu also had a son Peng Bingzhong before, she decided to focus all her energy on raising two children, she regarded Peng Yun as her own, in order to take care of Peng Yun, she quit her job in the office of the organ and went to the kindergarten to become a nurseryman.

After the founding of New China, they were found organizationally and made thoughtful arrangements for their lives. The life of Tan Zhenglun's family is also guaranteed. Tan Zhenglun told Peng Yun about his origins and encouraged him to study hard and inherit his parents' revolutionary cause.
Under the meticulous care of Tan Zhenglun, Peng Yun grew up healthily. As a child of a martyr, he received preferential treatment from the school and teachers after attending school. Peng Yun has made up his mind since he was a child to study hard and complete the instructions of his birth mother. His grades are always at the top of the class, and Tan Zhenglun is very happy to see the awards that Peng Yun has brought back.
With the emergence of the novel "Red Rock" and various stage plays, Sister Jiang's name resounded throughout the country, and Peng Yun received more attention. But he always kept a low profile and was never proud, never causing trouble for the country.

In 1965, Peng Yun was admitted to the Harbin Military Engineering College with excellent results, and when the acceptance letter arrived, Tan Zhenglun specially took Peng Yun to pay homage to Sister Jiang and her husband and comfort their spirits in heaven.
It is worth mentioning that Tan Zhenglun's own son Peng Bingzhong is also successful in his studies. Tan Zhenglun worked hard and raised his two children to adulthood and did not remarry. She was also a kind, great mother.
Peng Yun married classmate Yi Xiaoye in 1973. Yi Xiaoye's grandfather was Yang Kaihui's uncle, and a year later, his son Peng Zhuangzhuang was born.
In 1977, Peng Yun was admitted as a graduate student at the Institute of Computer Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Soon after, he was one of the first publicly sent international students to study in the United States, and later received his doctorate from the University of Maryland.

Later, due to his outstanding achievements in artificial intelligence, the 41-year-old Peng Yun once again got the opportunity to work in the United States and returned to the University of Maryland, Baltimore as a professor in the Department of Computer Science, and the couple has since worked and settled in the United States.
Despite holding a U.S. green card, Peng Yun has never changed his nationality. Peng Yun stayed abroad and did not return to China, which caused a lot of criticism. In response to this doubt, Peng Yun also believes that he has only completed half of his mother's will, and his contribution to the country is not enough.
He once wanted to dedicate what he had learned to his country, but he was hindered by some factors; then the environment became better, but he was old and no longer ambitious. Regrets are overflowing.
However, fortunately, he had a more excellent son, Peng Zhuangzhuang, who replaced him to realize the other half of Sister Jiang's last wish.

Because of his outstanding performance, major companies have extended olive branches, and Peng Zhuangzhuang has been engaged in information consulting work in the United States for a period of time.
After graduating from high school, his father and Peng Zhuangzhuang had a long conversation, telling him about the glorious deeds of his grandfather and grandmother Jiang Zhujun, and expressing his regret that he could not complete his last wish. Peng Zhuangzhuang was deeply moved, and he was determined to learn and succeed and return to China to complete his father's unfinished business.
After graduating with a Ph.D., he sought the opportunity to return to China to develop. By coincidence, Peng became a global partner at McKinsey & Company.

Peng Zhuangzhuang returned to China to develop, not only achieved success in his career, but also gained sweet love. Speaking of which, his wife Zhongqi and his grandmother Jiang Zhujun really have some relationship.
Zhongqi's grandmother, He Lili, is a good friend and middle school classmate of Jiang Zhujun. Grandpa Zhongqiuyuan and Jiang Zhujun were both underground party members in Chongqing, and he was arrested and thrown into the slag cave before Jiang Zhujun.
However, because his public identity at that time was the manager of Sanlian Bookstore, he did not reveal his true identity, and was successfully released on bail by Zhang Lan, chairman of the Democratic League, and served as vice minister of culture after liberation. Therefore, the relationship between the two families is quite deep, Peng Zhuangzhuang and Zhongqi have known each other since childhood, and when they went to live in the United States, the two became increasingly distant.

In 2001, Peng Zhuangzhuang returned to China to work, often went to Zhongqi's house to visit his grandfather and grandmother, the two came to know each other, had a good feeling for each other, and finally knew and loved each other, and entered the marriage hall.

In 2009, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his grandmother's sacrifice, Peng Zhuangzhuang returned to his hometown and visited his grandmother's former residence, where he learned the details of his grandparents' glorious righteousness. Peng Zhuangzhuang was once again shocked by the deeds of his grandparents and was proud to be their grandson.
In front of his grandmother's grave, Peng Zhuangzhuang assured his grandmother that the half of his father's unfulfilled last wish would be fulfilled by his grandson and would fight to the end for the construction of a new China. As the two children grew older, they were exposed to some information about their grandmother.
In the face of the child's inquiry, Peng Zhuangzhuang felt that if they only preached from the language aspect, they might not be able to understand it in the era of peace. So he took his wife and children to the shrine to visit his grandmother's grave. Let them experience the story of Grandpa and Grandma up close.
Peng Zhuangzhuang's family
Peng Zhuangzhuang mentioned in the interview that the children of Peng Ran and Peng Yi's generation must remember the stories of the older generation of revolutionaries, understand that today's happy life is not easy to come by, and thus know how to cherish it, and then they can assume the responsibility of revitalizing their ancestors in the future.
In 2019, Peng Zhuangzhuang took his wife and two children to attend the "70th Anniversary Of Jiang Zhujun Sacrifice Commemorative Conference". In his speech, he mentioned that he resolutely gave up the preferential treatment of the United States and returned to the embrace of the motherland. The motivation is to fulfill Grandma's expectations.
More than 70 years have passed since the martyr Jiang Zhujun left us, and their generation of revolutionaries used their lives to create a new China.

The martyrs of Jiang Zhujun can be relieved that their descendants still have not slackened off, showing the responsibility of the descendants of China in the new era.
Times are changing, but the spirit of the martyrs will not be lost, and the red gene will be passed on from generation to generation. The Chinese nation will surely go forward and succeed and stand tall among the nations of the world. If the martyrs know it, they should be able to rest in peace.
