1. "Imagine" yourself as the one who works with Edison

author:Sun Wu Reading Club

The phrase "do what you want" is very true. If you combine the ideals in your heart with firm goals, tenacity and strong faith, you will certainly be able to achieve great things.

A key feature of Barnes's ideals and convictions is clarity and firmness. He wanted to "work with" Edison instead of "working" for "Edison."

When Barnes's belief first flashed into his mind, he didn't know how to do it. There were two problems before him: one was that he didn't know Edison at all; the other was that Edison's lab was in New Jersey, and he couldn't even afford a train ticket to get there.

Edison later described Barnes this way: he was like an ordinary tramp, but he showed confidence and preparedness. After a few years of working together, I felt that when a person truly desires something, he would rather bet his life to get it, and he will definitely succeed.

If a person wants to do something, as long as he has a clear goal, a firm belief, and a full commitment, he will definitely create a better life. The unassuming Barnes did not know this at the time, but he crossed all obstacles and got the opportunity he wanted.

When this opportunity comes, it may be very different from the form or direction barnes expected, but this is precisely the charm of the opportunity. Chance, accustomed to sneaking in through the back door, sometimes disguised as an unfortunate or temporary failure, may be why many people are unable to discover its existence.

Barnes "imagined" himself as the great Edison's partner and himself as a rich man. He only knew what he wanted, and his firmness and dedication to faith enabled him to achieve his ideals. He was successful in his career, had wealth, and more importantly, he proved it with his actions: thinking to get rich.
