The Lynk & Co Z20 electric car debuts in Europe: the new darling of the global market

Lynk & Co's second all-electric vehicle, this time named the Z20, has been spotted again in Europe. The model, codenamed E335, is based on the SEA platform and is clearly designed for the global market and will be sold simultaneously in China and Europe.

The Z20 is likely to be similar in size to the Zeekr X, leaning more towards a crossover than a traditional SUV, with a hatchback-like body line. Although we have only seen the rear part of the car in the exposed photos, according to the Sugar Design renders on the Chinese internet, the front of the car is equipped with the latest Lynk & Co light cluster design, and the overall shape is quite similar to that of the Zeekr X.

The camouflaged Z20 reportedly shows a lighting design similar to that of the Lynk & Co Z10. Judging by the previous undisguised photos, the car has semi-hidden door handles, and the window line rises sharply at the C-pillar. At the rear, the design combines a spoiler and continuous taillights into one piece, making it very recognizable.

Both test vehicles found in Europe had United Kingdom license plates. According to an investigation by the DVLA (United Kingdom Vehicle Administration), the two cars were registered on July 17 and the manufacturer was labeled Zhejiang Geely. Under camouflage, one car is white and the other is blue. Although these license plates are registered in the United Kingdom, at least one of them is a left-hand drive car.

The Z20 uses the same #1和Smart #3相同的SEA2平台 as Zeekr X and Smart. For reference, the Zeekr X measures 4450 mm (length), 1836 mm (width), 1572 mm (height) and has a wheelbase of 2750 mm. The Lynk & Co Z20 may be slightly larger than the Zeekr X, though.

Previously leaked interior spy photos show that the Z20 comes with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, dual wireless phone charging pads, and square side-by-side cup holders. In addition, a floating entertainment screen can be seen, and gear changes are done via a lever on the steering wheel.

We can expect the Z20's powertrain to be the same as that of the Zeekr X. The single-motor version is equipped with a 200 kW rear axle motor, while the dual-motor version adds a 115 kW motor to the front axle. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time on the Zeekr X is 5.8 seconds and 3.7 seconds, respectively, and the Z20 is expected to perform similarly. If the Geely replicates the powertrain exactly, the Z20 will be powered by a 66 kWh battery pack, which provides a range of 560 km on the Zeekr X and 512 km on the dual-motor version.

Alain Visser, former CEO of Lynk & Co International, said in 2023 that the company would introduce an electric vehicle to Europe in 2024. Therefore, we can expect the Z20 to hit the European market later this year. Currently, Lynk & Co only sells the 01 PHEV model in Europe, and the addition of the Z20 will further enrich its lineup.
