"Stomping the Moon" tells the story of the ancestors of the Gelai Miao people who worship the moon in the dark night blowing the reed sheng song, stomping their feet, and waking up the moon, it is the light of the moon that brings light, rebirth, and victory over the tribulation to the fleeing Miao people.
The dance of "Stomping the Moon" has been passed down for a long time and has a large number of participants, which is the original ecological reed sheng dance boutique of the Miao nationality and the business card of the Miao dance. Every New Year's festival and harvest celebration day, Miao men, women and children gather together to blow the reed sheng "stomping the moon".
Yang Zaiqing, a senior teacher at the Sandu County Fishing Nationality School, who is also the choreographer of "Stomping the Moon", said that the dance of "Stomping the Moon" uses the "stomping" characteristics of the Garai reed sheng dance and is carefully choreographed, and "Stomping the Moon" is mainly named after the "stomping" in the classical Garai reed sheng dance.
Yang Zaiqing introduced that the basic characteristics of the dance are that the young actors have more movements on their feet and less movements on their hands, and then cooperate with the four reed sheng musicians on the stage to press the reed sheng with their feet, and the rhythm of the tune blown out changes into a beautiful posture, and the hands are slightly swayed naturally on both sides, which deduces a very cheerful picture.
It is reported that in the 2012 Colorful Guizhou Dance Competition, "Stomping the Moon" won the "Jinqian Award", and in the final of the 2013 National Folk Dance Competition, "Stomping the Moon" won the silver medal of the 9th "Lotus Award" in China.
