After registering at the station, taking into account Wang Zhan's mental condition, the aid management station transferred him to a designated hospital for physical examination, and then the staff immediately pushed the information on the national aid and family search network and other platforms. After the doctor's examination, Wang Zhan suffered from the sequelae of cerebral infarction, but his physical condition was fine, so the staff took him back to the station to take care of him, and with the cooperation of the public security department, they took household registration inquiries, DNA collection, portrait comparison and other methods to find relatives, but found nothing.
During the period of searching for relatives, the Xi'an Rescue Station focused on digging clues in the care service, and tried to find some clues through the care of life and the care of details, regular psychological counseling and rehabilitation services, and tireless communication with him. Because Wang Zhan spoke with an accent from Shaanxi and Gansu, the staff kept introducing the customs of Shaanxi and Gansu to Wang Zhan, hoping to evoke Wang Zhan's memory in this way.

Hearing the news provided by Wang Zhan, the staff immediately contacted the local police station and village committee, but the reply was that "there is no household registration for this person". The little "clue" that was finally obtained was interrupted again, and the work was at an impasse for a while. Staff Chang Liang was unwilling: "Since he can talk about so many things about Linyou, at least it shows that he has a relationship with Linyou, and besides, there may be other situations if he doesn't have a household registration, or let's go to Linyou to understand the situation on the spot, maybe we can find some eyebrows."
The staff rushed to Linyou and finally found the clue
Chang Liang and Li Gang hit it off, immediately reported to the leadership for approval, and brought relevant information to Lingxi Village, Jiuchenggong Town, Linyou County, Baoji City to carry out a visit and research. Finally, under the leadership of the staff of the village committee, an elderly man was found after several twists and turns, and learned from him: "I have a little impression of his father, when the intellectual youth went to the countryside, his father had a team in the village and went to the countryside, and lived in the village for more than 20 years, and now there is no one in the house." Later, the staff went to the local village committee and police station to inquire about his father's file information, but did not find it, with long-term experience in finding relatives, Chang Liang suggested, "Let's go to the local marriage registry or archives to see, maybe we can find some clues."
Finally, with the assistance of the Linyou County Archives, the staff found Wang Zhan's archives, it turned out that his household registration had been issued a long time ago, but for some reason he did not settle down, and his immediate family members had passed away.
Finally, the staff contacted the Linyou County Civil Affairs Bureau and introduced Wang Zhan's preliminary verification, hoping to assist. After learning of the situation, the Linyou County Civil Affairs Bureau immediately sought policy guidance from the local public security department, and at the same time contacted the county rescue management station to help Wang Zhan apply for the restoration of his household registration in Lingxi Village.
After 38 years, he returned to his hometown to start a "new life"
Early in the morning of March 28, 2024, the staff took a bath for Wang Zhan, cut his nails, changed into brand new clothes, and escorted Wang Zhan on the road back to his hometown.
"It's very difficult to go back to my hometown, especially for people like Wang Zhan who have moved out and haven't settled down, so we spent more than two months screening and visiting, and although the process was very difficult, we were sincerely happy to be able to help people like Wang Zhan return to their hometowns." Chang Liang said.
At present, under the arrangement of the Linyou County Civil Affairs Bureau and the Linyou County Rescue Management Station, Wang Zhan, who has been wandering for 38 years, has been temporarily placed in the Linyou County Central Nursing Home for care.
