On May 8, the "Chongqing Key Laboratory of Micro-Nano Sensing and Intelligent Microsystems" was officially unveiled at the Chongqing Institute of Microelectronics of Beijing Institute of Technology in the Western (Chongqing) Science City. The laboratory integrates the superior resources in the field of bioelectromechanical system research in our city, and will focus on solving key technical problems such as MEMS (microelectromechanical system) biosensors, new biochemical micro-nano systems and intelligent point-of-care equipment research and development, and accelerate the development of strategic emerging industries.

Jiang Zhuangde, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University, was invited to serve as the director of the academic committee of the laboratory, and Dong Tao, professor of Chongqing Technology and Business University, was hired as the director of the laboratory.

According to reports, under the leadership and deployment of the Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the "Chongqing Key Laboratory of Micro-Nano Sensing and Intelligent Microsystems" completed the reorganization at the beginning of this year. The current key laboratory is jointly established by relying on the former Chongqing Key Laboratory of Micro-Nano System and Intelligent Sensing of Chongqing Technology and Business University, Chongqing Institute of Microelectronics of Beijing Institute of Technology, and Chongqing Kingsoft Technology (Group) Co., Ltd. At the same time, the laboratory is also the representative of the interdisciplinary and in-depth cross-integration and cooperation system of "production, education, research and application" in the field of bio-micro-nano systems in Chongqing, with extensive exchanges with domestic and foreign scientific research institutions, with distinctive international characteristics, and represents the leading level in the field of bio-microelectromechanical system research in Chongqing.

During the event, Academician Jiang Zhuangde not only talked about the development history and challenges of micro-nano sensors in mainland China, but also was very optimistic about the future of the laboratory. He said that with the rapid development of technologies such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, the market demand for MEMS sensors continues to grow, the market scale continues to expand, and MEMS is in a period of strategic development, full of opportunities and challenges. "The constituent units of this key laboratory have their own advantages, and they should grasp the major strategic opportunity period and cultivate leading enterprises in subdivided fields."

Key technologies such as microelectromechanical systems, brain-computer fusion technology, and precision medicine are major scientific and technological problems that need to be tackled and solved urgently in the mainland's 14th Five-Year Plan. The key laboratory will focus on solving specific key scientific and technological problems in the research and development of MEMS biosensors, new biochemical micro-nano systems and intelligent point-of-care diagnosis and treatment equipment, and strive to contribute to the promotion of scientific and technological progress and social and economic development.

The three supporting units all have the commonality of strong scientific research support and high level of science and technology, and each has its own strengths. Chongqing Institute of Microelectronics, Beijing Institute of Technology, has built a leading MEMS process line in China in Science City, and is an international cutting-edge MEMS scientific research institution. Chongqing Technology and Business University has a certain reputation and influence in the field of biological microelectromechanical systems at home and abroad. As a national high-tech enterprise, Chongqing Jinshan Technology (Group) Co., Ltd. has unique advantages in the R&D, production and sales of digital medical equipment.

On the same day, a number of experts and scholars discussed the frontiers, hot spots and difficult problems in the field of MEMS, and clarified the research direction and scientific and technological research content of the laboratory. In the future, the three parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in scientific research, platform co-construction and sharing, and talent training, establish an intelligent biological microelectromechanical system research and development system, and a collaboration model of "industry-university-research-application" in-depth cross-integration, become a key core technology in the industry, and strive to open up the channel from the laboratory to the real productivity, cultivate and develop new quality productivity, and transform the advantages of innovative resources into high-quality development advantages.

When General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected Chongqing, he stressed that it is necessary to develop new quality productive forces according to local conditions, explore the development of modern manufacturing and strategic emerging industries, lay out and build future industries, and form new momentum for regional development.

"In the future, we will gather more innovative elements to promote substantial progress in the construction of the laboratory, and provide fertile soil for the growth of more laboratories' scientific research achievements to be completed and transformed in the Science City. Efforts should be made to open up the channel from the laboratory to the real productivity, and effectively transform the advantages of innovation resources into high-quality development advantages. Deng Minjun, director of the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Chongqing High-tech Zone, said at the scene.

Up to now, there are 343 key laboratories at the city level and above, and 23 national key laboratories. Science City will further focus on its strategic positioning, strengthen the construction of laboratories in terms of strengthening forward-looking strategic layout, carrying out organized scientific research, in-depth integration with industrial development, gathering high-level talents, deepening open cooperation, and innovating systems and mechanisms, and strive to produce leading and original major scientific and technological achievements, and carry out high-quality scientific research.
