ZEDEDA brings security to edge management in disconnected environments

author:The frontier of the AI era

ZEDEDA, a leader in edge management and orchestration, recently announced ZEDEDA Edge Sync, a secure and convenient solution tailored for air-gapped environments where cloud connectivity is lacking (where there is no physical connection between a computer or computer network and other devices or networks to prevent data breaches or malicious attacks) and edge deployments.

Despite advances in edge connectivity, many edge deployments still face network challenges due to their distributed nature, ultra-secure system requirements, or unreliable connectivity. ZEDEDA Edge Sync solves these problems by supporting local node management while seamlessly integrating with the ZEDEDA platform.

"ZEDEDA Edge Sync provides peace of mind for customers with intermittent connectivity and stringent security requirements who want to reduce risk when planning their path to cloud computing," said Eva Feng, vice president of product management at ZEDEDA. "By running on a standard system, it eliminates the need for expensive hardware components and supports all types of networks and varying degrees of disconnection without compromising functionality."

According to IDC's latest projections, global edge computing spending is expected to reach nearly $350 billion by 2027. Strong growth has also been achieved in the short term, with spending increasing by 15.4% this year compared to 2023.

Due to their distributed nature, modern edge deployments face many network connectivity challenges. Edge deployments often lack consistent cloud connectivity due to highly secure air-gapped environments, unreliable network connectivity, or frequent planned outages. ZEDEDA Edge Sync solves these problems by running on your local network, regardless of the network connection, and connecting to the ZEDA Cloud Controller when connectivity is restored.

For example, it may be common for a location to have a network connection outage for a period of time, whether planned or unplanned. To avoid any service interruptions during downtime, site operators can ensure that the edge nodes are up and running, and configuration changes can be made during downtime.

This applies even to fully air-gapped deployments, where devices can never connect to the outside world once deployed. AS LONG AS THE LOCAL EDGE NODE HAS ACCESS TO THE NETWORK THAT USES THE ZEDEDA EDGE SYNC SERVICE, ZEDEDA EDGE SYNC CAN BE MONITORED AND CHANGED AT THE EDGE. It eliminates the need for expensive hardware components by running on standard systems and supports different levels of disconnection without compromising functionality.
