On the same day, 166,000 yellow catfish fry were released into the core area of the Huai Kingfish Reserve. In the future, 500,000 yellow and white silver carp fry will be released here.
According to fishery officials, the main protection objects of the Huai Kingfish National Aquatic Germplasm Resources Conservation Area are Huai Kingfish and Jiang Huang Cat, and other protected species include Fine-tailed Bass, Yellow Catfish, Huaihe Carp, Changchun Bream and other fish. Among them, the release of Jianghuang catfish is a special fish of the same family as the Huai Kingfish, and the release of a large number of such fry will play an important role in restoring the rare aquatic population of the Huai Kingfish Reserve and protecting the ecological integrity of the waters.
The day's breeding and release activities were carried out at the original high-water wharf upstream of the Huaihe River Bridge in Fengtai, which is close to the Huaihe Black Dragon Pond and belongs to the core area of the Huai Kingfish Conservation Area. In order to do a good job in the breeding and release work, under the joint supervision of the municipal fishery administration and relevant departments, the project implementation unit purchased fish fry from the national healthy aquaculture demonstration farm - Fengtai Chengbei Lake Fishery, and the experts of the technical group of the release activities were inspected and identified and measured by the experts of the release activity on site. The release process is all notarized by a notary public to ensure the quality and quantity of the release.
At the beginning of the release activity, the city and county fishery administration personnel, aquatic experts and personnel of the implementation unit stood on the embankment and dumped the Jianghuang catfish fry in the water basin into the Huai River. After years of release, now the release operation has been very professional and fast, in addition to the release of the display link, the rest of the release action is to transport the fry as close to the river as possible, and then connect the car to the outlet of the pipe bag through the iron tank into the river, to open the gate valve, the fry with the flow through the tank directly into the Huai River. In this way, the fry are not harmed, the survival rate is high, and the release efficiency is also improved.
The construction of the Huai Kingfish Reserve is a long-term plan. The construction of the wharf will inevitably cause changes and impacts on the ecology of the riparian waters, and the technical transformation project of Pingwei Wharf is within the scope of the Huai Kingfish Conservation Area, in accordance with the principle of "who builds, who repairs", Shunlong Company will take out a certain amount of compensation, and entrust the professional department to carry out the breeding and release, and repair the damage and impact on the ecological environment of the reserve caused by the construction of the wharf. It is reported that after this release, the new yellow and white silver carp fry will be released when they grow older. Yellow silver carp filters plankton and purifies water quality. The release is an important part of the ecological restoration of the Huai Kingfish Aquatic Germplasm Resources Reserve, through the special release, the construction of the wharf can restore part of the ecological environment that has changed the river shoreline of the reserve, increase the population of aquatic species in the reserve, improve the population structure, and purify the water environment.
According to the relevant person in charge of the municipal fishery department, since 2008, Huainan has carried out breeding and release in the waters of the Huai River for the first time, and it has continued every year since then. It is of great and far-reaching significance to effectively conserve the fishery resources of the Huaihe River, maintain the biodiversity of the Huaihe River, and improve the water ecosystem by holding artificial enhancement and release activities, increasing the traditional famous and high-quality fish species of the Huaihe River in a targeted manner, and expanding the population. The long-term construction of the Huai Kingfish Reserve has significantly optimized the ecology of the waters, and now, the "whitebait flood" can be formed in the Huainan section of the Huai River every year.
